These are arguably the best 5751's ever made. From the late 1950's with the small yellow printing and "S" shield with the lightening bolt. A musical and well balanced sound. With slightly less gain they can used in place of the 12AX7 in most cases. Come in generic white boxes.

That's an absolutely phenominal price on the Sylvania 5751's!
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I have compared them. The Sylvania's are mellower on the top end and have better midrange than the RCA's. The bass definately goes deeper with the RCA long plates, althought it's not as tight as with the Sylvania's because of them being 3 mica and not long plates.
If you are thinking about RCA's, I would look into RCA 3 mica BP 5751's over the RCA long plate 12AX7's. IMO, they are better (which in no way implies the RCA long black plate 12AX7's are "bad"). The bass goes deeper with the RCA long black plate 12AX7's over the RCA 3 mica BP 5751's, but the bass from the RCA 5751's is good. Also, IMO the RCA 3 mica BP 5751's are more transparent and have a little better detail then the Sylvania 3 mica BP 5751's, but the RCA's also aren't as warm, smooth and creamy as the Sylvania's. It's a trade off and depends on what you are looking for. Hope this helps you out.

I also wanted to add Skip: The RCA long black plate 12AX7's are smooth and creamy, but not like the Sylvania 5751's. The Sylvania's "take the cake" in that department. If it's the warmer, smooth and creamy sound you are looking for from a 12AX7 (varients) tube, you will not find a better tube than the Sylvania 5751, and you will be very hard pressed to find a pair of Sylvania 5751's for cheaper than this (from a reliable source as Jesse is)!

No joke! I'm selling them for substantially less than I paid. Maybe I should raise the price.Political Correctness'.........defined

I'll take the other pair if still available.
Also wondering if anyone has tried these in a Jolida JD9? I had in mind to try the EI's I got from F1 there in the phono pre and the Sylvanias in the integrated. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,

Definitely a great tube at a great price.

I've tried them in my modded JD-9. They sound good, but it's been my experience that 12AX7s sound better in the JD-9 than 5751s. I've read that the JD-9 needs the full gain of the 12AX7 to accurately produce the RIAA equalization. Don't know if this is true or not but, its been my experience that the JD-9 sounds best when running 12AX7s and not 5751s so there may be something to that. I've had best luck running Raytheon Long Black Plate, RCA Long Black Plate, and GE Gray Plate 12Ax7s in my JD-9. I'm currently experimenting with some Amperex Holland Large O Getter Grey Plates and it sounds good with those also. -
Thanks Dawg. Stocks are in jd9 currently. I was planning to try the EI 12ax7 golds there and compare with 60's Mullard Blackburns, Telefunkens, RCA BP's, and some new Gold Lions. I was thinking these 5751's would be sweet in the Dared I-30 integrated, but we'll see how it goes. Thanks much for the help.

You are most welcome! I think you'll find all of those are going to be much better than the stock tubes. You are going to love those Sylvanias in your integrated. They are a great tube. Those and the RCAs are on my short list of favorite 12AX7/5751 types. -
Received my pair today, popped them in the JD-100A, now I know what all the hub-bub is about...my, these things sound good. I have some very nice 12AX7 RCA Black Plates, and the Sylvanias are giving them a run for their money.
Beautiful NOS examples, Thanks Jesse -
Received these yesterday. Beautiful! Will try out some stuff today. Thanks Jesse!
