I wanted to see if the Behringer A500 power amp could be used with my SDA2. I was thinking of using the preout on my AVR plugged into these but dont want to risk my speakers. Its an Onkyo TX-SR706 AVR if that matters. Thanks for any help.

I don't know if that amp is common ground, but I can tell you it is not a good choice for sound quality.

PA and other "Professional" amps are not well-loved around here. You've figured that out by now.

You could use an ohmmeter to test for continuity between the negative speaker terminals of the two channels. If there's essentially no resistance between the negative terminal of the left channel to the negative terminal of the right channel...it's common-ground. 20 ohms resistance is WAY too much. I'd want less than one ohm.

Any amp that is "bridged" or has an inverted channel is unsuitable, but the A500 seems to be neither based on a quick look at the back panel photo on their web site.
