Monitor 10A vs LS90s

Anyone compared the 2?
I have modded LS90s and have a chance to pick up MOnitor 10s with peerless tweets.
I would have to mod the 10As and get stands for them so it would have to be a healthy upgrade over the LS90s for it to be worth my wild.
Thanks,

I compared LS50 with 10A with peerless and preferred 10A but LS90 is much bigger so not sure.
10A's were forceful compared to LS50.
If price is not bad, get them. It's easy to resell 10A's if you don't like them compared to LS90 but 10A's are much wider than LS90 so they take more space in the front.
Also, 10A's need stand while LS90 are towers.

Less veil on the Monitor 10. The biggest thing IMO holding the LS series back is that tweeter - its like it stands between you and the music.
Thanks Dskip. I am fine with the tweeter. Was in Dallas this week, had Whataburger twice and some good Tex-Mex, neither can be had in KC.boston1450 wrote: »If i had to chose it would be the ls90
Thanks, no real conclusion though. Think I will stay with LS90s.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

I have the 10a with the peerless tweeters and they sound really good. I would definitely get them if they are going for a decent price. They are a really good bang for the buck speaker. Surprisingly deep bass. I never have heard the ls90. Sorry I can't give you my opinion on those.SDA SRS 2.3TL's

Not many around with a set of LSs to listen to, but I cannot imagine, as Dskip has said, the LS tweeter being in the same league as the Peerless?
However, I'm really not sure if this would be anything but a "lateral" move on your part. Perhaps better highs for some of us.
I would think that the logical vintage step up from LS speakers would be SDAs! That's where I'd go. But I see from your sig, you know that already. lol

Love my 1Cs.
The LS90s sound great with my tube pre and amp. I have heard 10As and owned some speakers with Peerless. For my office the LS90s are just fine. Was hoping someone has a serious comparsion.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

Mine was serious. I think both are good speakers, but they each have their flaws. The LS90's image better due to the vertical array, have a very smooth sound to them, but lack the intimacy and transparency that many other Polk speakers exhibit due to the "cotton in your ears" top end. The 10A's are fine and the tweeter sounds superb on them with modern gear. They do not image nearly as well and the bass can be a bit bloated. Based off market price, I'd go with the 10's all day long. With as much work as you have in those LS90's though, it might not be beneficial for you to grab them. I don't know that you'd get the investment out of the 90's if you were to sell them.
Honestly, I'd take some RT3000p's over either, but they can be quite a bit more expensive. The 3000's can be a bit boxy, but they have an excellent tonal balance and don't get in the way of the music.
Sorry about that, I just assumed you were comparing LS50s to the 10s.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

I have tried LS 90s 3 times and compared them to Monor 10s. RTA 12s and sda2bs Cotton in your ears is a good choice and is exacly what my wife said and the bass is very very heavy with voices back of the stage I stuffed the ports and that helped My brother has owned them since 1995 but his tone controls are always turned up.

Yeah, but no 'Jess & Jims' or 'Jack Stack BBQ' in Dallas (although I now like 'Babe's' fried chicken better than 'Strouds')!Yamaha RX-A2050 AVR (5.0.2); LG OLED77C2 4K TV(4) Polk Monitor 10B's w/SoniCaps, Mills, and RDO-194 tweets (R/L F/R)(2) Polk RC80i (Top Middle)Polk CS300 center channelAnalog: B&O TX2 Turntable, Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1Digital: Pioneer CLD-99 Elite LD, Panasonic DMP-UB900 UHD Blu-RayBedroom: Arylic Up2Stream AMPv3 driving Polk Monitor 4's w/peerless tweets -

Which ones are "cotton in your ears"?
LS90 or others you mentioned?

What modern polks are generally rated better than the LS series?

Does Polk make an upgrade tweeter for the LS 90's?
