Any idea who made this? No make/model on this ole jewel..
It is in suitcase-has cover-built in speaker-external mic..
I will ad some pics. I havent done any research yet at all. It is metal faceplate & is up & running. Needs to be lubed & has easy access. So big plus.
Neighbor & i was talking about old electronics & said his father owned it & used it up till mid 80's..im thinking early 1960's or earlier maybe. He also included a suitcase with 20 tapes in it with various artist. Needless to say wifes eyes were :rolling: LOL but free usually tends to be less speed in the eye roll

Man that looks ancient. I once had an AKAI o AWAI suitcase R2R that had smaller reels like that. I guess we'll have to wait for Ken or mhardy to step in here.
Who made R2Rs back then? Voice of Music, RCA, and maybe a small number of Japanese man.
At least that has TWO speeds on it--which is surprising considering how basic it seems?

I am clueless - pretty sure it'd be Japanese.
Not a familiar countenance to me... I'd suggest perusing the mid 1960s catalogs at www.alliedcatalogs.com and perhaps a lookalike will manifest itself.
If it helps any, I am pretty sure it's not an LRE or Radio Shack product (or an OEM variant of something either of them sold as well)... other large electronics suppliers of the era (McGee, Olson, Burstein-Applebee) are possibilities, though. No good on-line respources for them, unfortunately... if you get bored, though, it is probably worth peekin' at www.radioshackcatalogs.com too. -
Thanks..i tried looking online till my eyes were burning. It is built quite well. Outside case may have had a emblem that got knocked off. When i opened it up i still didnt see much but will look further on the backside panel on the inside.. If i find more info i will post results i will dig more & maybe pic/info will show up. Thanks Again..
