edited November 2013 in 2 Channel Audio
Well I am putting together another 2 channel system and have decided to have the best of both worlds. Here is a link to my first attempt back in April. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?148153-OK-here-s-my-first-2-ch-system-partly-done-with-pics

I did as a question about vinyl here in this thread http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?149364-Need-advice-for-getting-into-vinyl-.....-totally-clueless!!! but I kinda got talked out of doing the turntable and talked into buying a cheapo crap one because I am not worthy lol Well I am just goingto wing it and do as I always do and go with my gut, take a chance and hope it all works out great.

I wana buy a really good looking turntable but something better than the audioblock ps 100 model but dang thats a beauty. So I will go back to tube mono blocks as my tube integrated is not doing it for me. I will also need a nice cartridge, a phono stage, a tube pre amp and more ac cables and pricey ic's. I will be using a new ps audio perfectwave mk1 upgraded to mk2 status with the network bridge that I may have to buy a tablet with and a musicserver.

For cables I wont change, as they are awesome. The 1 meter wireworld platinum usb, wireworld gold eclipse seapker cables along with 3 pairs of platinum eclipse ic's and 5 wireworld electra ac cables.

For a super charge I am going to treat the listening enviroment with acoustic panels as those cables mentioned retail for $21050 so I wana get the most out of them dang it!!

The CA's are nice but I feel I need a step up from those as I can see myself getting an upgrade itch. I want a piece of TT **** on the rack but not something thats going to make my wallet empty as I have a lot of items to put together in a really short period of time... like 2 weeks tops.

You are too impatient for a turntable. But if you want a big massive awesome looking table check out an older VPI TNT or HRX table. As you look at the pics remember they look 3 times bigger in person than in a pic. Don't forget to buy one with a remote so you can change songs quicker, its a real pain to get up and do it manually.
    Vinyl, the final frontier...

Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... :D

I never have a problem with doing the volume on the tubes so vinyl should be no problem for me. I am buying this special cleaning solution to put old dirty lp's in the dishwasher and its only $90 a bottle!

I dont know if I would recommend that as its gonna screw up the labels on all the LP's unless you protect each one individually and thats gonna be costly.

Here's something you can use on LPs and NEW skinny jeans:

    Record REVIRGINIZER!

    http://www.juno.co.uk/products/record-revirginizer-liquid-cleans-restores-vinyl-records/405433-01/

And if your Father at Monsanto needs some new ingredient for modifying some grain staple, throw some RR in there! I''m sure the FDA will "approve" it! You know I'm kidding, right?

I enjoyed this Nottingham Space 294 with Moerch DP6 for quite a while. The arm, record weight and periphery ring are extras.

I'd say that platter is too "small" and not "heavy" enough. Try this, all farm boys should have one around, no?

OK, enough of me. Let the TT aficionados carry on!

big (transcription) platter? There can be only One. These are a little hard to come by; I am sworn to secrecy...

in all seriousness, the aforementioned Nottingham tts are also quite nice - I didn't include them in my earlier post 'cause I don't know anyone who has one; no ears-on experience.

I was just kidding about the dishwasher thing lol, the MC TT is nice but they are like 5.5k on the used market and thats more than my budget right now. I am going to try out a solid state and tube pre with built in phono's. The tube mono blocks with a tube pre may be too much but I like the options I will have....

I can play the perfectwave dac through the tube pre and into solid state amplification
I can run the perfectwave dac through solid state preamplification into tube amps
I can switch the vinyl to all solid state or all tube or half and half

Its going to be interesting but now I feel I need to buy a fedora and go browsing old record stores.

PFB what do you do for a living if I might ask? Cause with the disposable income your throwing around, I may need to change careers.

And I am actually being serious here.

There are tone of Tube Monos to choose from but I prefer big Triodes running in Parallel or SE config.

It's not that I can afford any of these but it is likely you can.

Don't worry about it at all PFB. It's a big state, it'd be easy to have missed it.

Dude, no one really cares what you do, it's just hard to believe most of your dealings and activities so it leads people to wonder out loud. No one else is budgeting or coughing up 10s of thousands for whatever at the drop of a hat. At your age, if I had that kind of disposable capital, I'd be stoking my 401K!

Ok something horrible happened during the last phase of my testing, after listening to everything on its own, tube pre with solid state amp, dac hooked direct to the tube amps using the dac pre section. I hooked up the tube pre and switched the tube mono's after a long cool down period and heard this aweful buzzing.

I switched it all off but wonder why it did that as I know everything works, what could have caused it? Both tube amps had the horrible buzz noise and I imagine thats the sound of a ground loop?

    How can I remedy this?
