Sansui 1000x receiver and matching sp1500 speakers. All recapped and tweaked.
I just have to put the speaker grills on.

These sound surprisingly good. They are very efficient. And rock the house with only a few watts.

Ahhhhh yes Sansui. very nice. Nice rack too. I have friend who has 3 Sansui's & has Sansui speakers also & they hold their own for sure..ENJOY

Very nice, I do loves me some Sansui. I have a 881 powering a pair of DCM Time Window 1As in my son's room. Really nice sounding set up.

They look to be Shahinian Obelisks; danged fine loudspeakers. Danged fine.

Looks like a fine Sansui tuner hanging out at the bottom of the rack too. I'd like to hear the Sansui 1000/2000/4000 series sometime.

And nothing gets past the eagle eyes of mhardy. I took a quick peek at the Shahinian web site...cool.

I also went to the Obelisk site and liked the guys rap about how regular boxed speakers are the worst designed speakers .Really putting it to AR, Advent and all the acoustic suspension systems. Here it looks like either the start of Dr. Walsh's theory for the Ohm/Walsh omnidirectional or working at it at the same time w/ passive radiators and speakers placed in places where they have never been before.For their size depending on the model seems that you can fill a room w/ ease and not that much powere needed also.I remember how popular those Sansui sets were at the time really trying to get the Pioneer market.

They obelisks. We're an experiment for the Sansui 1000x, not quite a match...

The wood rack I bought years ago , as I found it through audio asylum..Usher Audio rack. I wish I had bought two..
Sadly I parted with my Osirus stands. Big mistake. :-(

Really? AR, Advent, KLH and maybe one should include ALL vintage Polks in there since they are boxes? That's a group I'd love to be in! Oh wait some of my favorite possessions are in that group? lol

Not to say you can't screw around with the Cabs, etc. But those speakers above are "classics" and most sound very good indeed!

..."monkey cofffin" speakers have their limitations, be they sealed or ported.

I didn't say the guy was right or wrong but that he strongly believed that "monkey coffin rectangles" had their limitations and these dudes were thinking out of the box (pardon the pun).The majority of speakers ever produced of course were and for that matter still are boxes. Just taller, slimmer, some w/ passives some w/ horns and some powered. They are and probably always be here.Me, I always liked that East Coast sound that's why I have a set of ADC 303ax cloth doped surround suspension speakers.The brands I named before were probably the best sellers of all time w/ most now out of buisness like Rectilinear or bought out by some conglomerate like Harmon who owns JBL, Infinity and some other brands.

Thanks Mark i looked up the info you provided earlier today. Wouldnt mind getting a listen on them sexy speakers I had a chance last week to visit N.E. HiFi & spent 2 plus hours with variety of Paradigms Klipsch Denons HK Onkyo Anthems & more while wife & kiddo was at Me. Mall- i slipped/snuck off down the road beautiful set up Adam

There's no "perfect" and there's even no "best" - partly (I'd opine) due to the supremely subjective experience of hearing reproduced audio and what an individual "likes".

For example, I care - a lot - about midrange reproduction. I have three pairs of loudpspeakers that are my go-to for real-sounding midrange (totally subjectively assessed). The Altec Duplexes in large vented enclosures, Quad ESL-57 full range (three-element) push-pull electrostatics, which are dipoles, and Radio Shack 40-1354 twincone 5-1/4" "full-range" drivers (with phase plugs) in mass-loaded, tapered, folded quarter-wave tubes (ML-TQWT). The former two, particularly, are capable of voice and piano reproduction that sounds real.

But all three speaker systems sound different. Horses for courses.
