While not as unique or rare as the other gear this all tube Joule Electra LA-100MkIII pre amp is an outstanding piece of gear. It is an original MkIII, serial number 266, not an upgraded MKII. Completely hand built with point to point wiring, it and other Joule pre amps have long been one of the audio world's favorites.

It has an all tube power supply using 13EM7's with OA2's for voltage regulation. The signal path uses a single 5751 with a 6350 mu follower. The signal board floats via an unique suspension system designed to isolate it from external vibrations.

This pre amp has the remote control option installed and the optional Purist Audio chassis wire. I replaced the stock red/green standby/power on LED with a red/blue LED for a more updated look. I also replaced the stock feet with some of much better quality. In addition, I replaced the stock gold painted knobs with chrome knobs from Audio Note. I will include the stock feet as well as the stock knobs, which were showing signs of wear. The top is lined with Dynamat Extreme.

The tubes installed are as follows and are the best available;
(1) 5751 - Sylvania triple mica, black plate with D getter from the late '50's....pure sonic bliss!
(1) 6350 - RCA black plate (the RCA 6350 is the best)
(2) 13EM7 - RCA (of note, Joule would sub the 13EM7 for the 6EM7)
(2) OA2WA - CBS-Hytron (of note, the OA2 glows a pinkish purple, very cool)

I will include spare 13EM7's and OA2WA's, although you will probably never need them.

Condition is near excellent with some very slight and very fine swirl type scratching on the gloss black faceplate, which cannot be seen unless you are on top of it with a bright light shining directly on it.

Comes with the original remote (no batteries), 2 owners manuals (both are Xerox copies, which is what Joule supplies), the spec sheets and the original box. I will include a generic power cord.

This likely to be your last pre amp, it's that good.

Price: $1500.00
Payment: PayPal (add 3%), USPS MO or personal check if I know you.
Shipping: FedEx, cost to be determined.

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have and thanks for looking.

If this was balanced, I would buy it in a second Jesse! Someone will snatch this in a second though!

Oh, and I can see your reflection in those shiney knobs in the first pic!

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Without a doubt, the Joule is the better pre amp.

Have you heard it paired with the Carver Black Beauties? how do you think it would match up?

I am very interested especially because of the adjustable gain.

I have not, but have to think they would work well together.

This is tempting, but with the Holidays around the corner I just can justify it at this time. Too bad it's not around tax time.

GLWS, this one is on my short list when I decide to upgrade.
