This device works well for transfering VHS tapes to VCD's that can be played on your DVD player. (or if you have a big hard drive you can just store the MPG files) It works by converting an S-video or composite input and then sending it to your computer via USB.
VHS tapes wear out, CD's not so much. I have transferred all of the VHS tapes I care about to CD and therefore I have no more use of this product. The quality of the transfer is certainly good enough to capture VHS, but don't expect to pirate DVD's without some loss.
