The anticipation is killing me.I just ordred the RDO 194s for the 2bs and they should be coming with in a week. Also ordered and should be here any day now is Larry's Rings. I've already started to take apart the speakers and passives and gave them a nice good cleaning w/ Windex and then after drying relabled and bagged them. That's all I can do for now if the rings come this will be a great little project for the weekend. All tools and anything I need I should have already like Armacell gasket tape, all the tools for the job , then to clean them up.I have spoken to Trey about sending out my x-overs and will likely happen after the new year.
Also a very big shout out to Darque Knight for his amazing tutorials w/ explicit instructions and great over the top photography to match. I think one could do this no matter how inept you feel you are except maybe like me tackling the x-overs.Pictures will be coming to show progress and then I will tell all if it's been worth it or not. I have been keeping a running balance of what I have spent so far and will reveal when done.

Good time to check the Polyfill material to make sure it hasn't dropped down into the area of the passive radiator. It needs to stop at the bottom of the MWs. You could also reseal the cabinets if you feel it is needed.

TennMan, Your right some of the fill has shifted and when I lay these down and pull out the x-overs and then pull the poly fill I will reroll it correctly and then when sure it's in it's right place I will staple them w/ my trusty T-25 gun. Resealing the cabinets is already done w/Liquid Nails as are the side fabric that seems to pull away and that was remedied w/ L Nails a wide putty knife and some furniture clamps I borrowed from the maintanence guys here at my development. Also I forgot to mention ,now do some of you see the advantages of having a speaker selector? I can still use my 2chl system w/ either the ADC 303ax or the DCM tf 350s.Then again I could just go w/ the Yamaha but that's almost passe' except for the sources I use w/ the unit.

With the 2B's, you might want to check out the TL upgrade that incorporates the RDO-198 tweeter...just saying, if your going to have the x-overs upgraded anyway.

Mike ,I have thought about it and again cost was an issue and like I said the 194s are already ordered. I'm alright w/ going w/ a speaker selectorthat I've had way before the Polks were in my house. The TL mod w/a bigger boards and inductors and different tweeters just not for me . Then there's always the question where and when does it end, with me it ends at the simple x-over mod by VR-3, what I have already done or waiting to do.What not is going to happen is a new I/C cable, new binding posts new inductors, internal wiring or the whole TL mod.I was hesitant in the 1st place about doing this but the mods I originally did were so cheap or free and did make enough of an improvement then going the 3 more steps for the rings, tweeters( always going to do these ), and x-overs will be enough to satisfy me for the next quite a few years.Skippy, listen to what you want and I'll hear my gear as it's my football and it's fully inflated.Take your tubes and make some toast w/ them.I'm fine w/ my selector and it's paying off right now.

Skip, it's cool and Dman it has to. Unless you come from a family that you have an inheritance coming or tons of mad/ f-you money lying around there is a limit. Look, if I lived in a private house where I really could have a dedicated 2chl room and maybe a in the basement a H/T with a vintage type of room w/ multiple amp/receivers and speakers like Mhardy has then things would be a lot different .Me in a 1 bdrm apt where room is limited I have to find the balance of what I can afford and what can fit logistically and still sound great.I always said if a pair of Vandersteen 2ce sigs or some Ohm/Walsh 3xos,Klipsch Forte's flew into my apt then my room would have to change a bit. Again variety for me is the better way to go. For some it may not be and that's fine. Oh the Polks wouls stay.

Randy, Thanks your the guy who scores big time w/ either C/L or Goodwill. Now there is some bad news around here, there are 2 Goodwill stores in my area and both seem to be demantling their electronic gear sections and even albums. The Aberdeen store had nothing and the East Brunswick store had a very lousy lp collection in very bad shape and nothing worthwhile in the electronic racks .Just some cable boxes,VHS players, CD players and cardboard speakers of different makes. This was a very depressing day for sure.

Ive reached a point where i try not to mess with it. Those places seem to be drying out as you stated. When i do stop at goodwill i browse at albums but i hope to see a McIntosh one day-wishful thinking ;)
