Anyone else catch this on Tuesday night?

Thought it was well done. A closeup of Hendrix' notes from 1968's Electric Ladyland shows a list of players: Mike Finnigan (Hammond B3) is at the top of that list. I shook Finnigan's hand on 10/18/2013 @ the Hotel Phillips, prior to the Bonnie Raitt concert.

I came pretty close to seeing Hendrix twice in 1970. Had 8th row tickets via the 2 little ole ladies who ran Century II's Central Ticket Agency. Cowtown (AKA Wichita) couldn't sell enough tickets for either date . . . . sure wish I'd kept the tickets, rather than take the refunds.

I think of Jimi every time someone hollers Hey Joe.

Ever heard the original version of Hey Joe? Can't remember who did it, but it doesn't sound like the same song. Jimi, Mitch and Noel totally own that with their version! Almost sounds like a jazz waltz. . . . . . . . on steroids

There is a version done by Arthur Lee and Love from their first album (1966):

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I didn't see the PBS show but was somewhat fortunate to see jimi about 4/5 times.I say somewhat because I started to see his decline and it was a sad one. The 1st show was at the White Plains Civic Center and was unbelievable, the guy was from another planet and played for hours.Next was Hunter College and also not a bad show but pretty much of the same. Now comes the bad.I was very close at the Fillmore East to close actually and I saw stuff that might have looked great 25 rows back but what I saw was total premeditation and all schtick. He appears the thrust his Strat into a Marshall speaker port and cool right ,only the port was a dummy and empty then changes from his concert Strat to a Fender Mustang and prceeded to destroy it.The next show wasn't even a Hendrix gig ,Electric Flag were headlining again at the F.E.and and the show appeared to be over .Bloomfield and the horn and keyboard players were leaving the stage and the audience began to get up and leave.Buddy Miles yells out wait the show aint over I gots a friend coming out and I think you know who he is .Jimi comes out w/ the velvet pants, the hat ,the feather boa and his white Strat they just played blues tunes for another hour or so until it was like 5/6am.The last and most disappointing show of all was a peace benefit at MSG w/ many acts w/ Jimi as headliner.Jimi finally comes out ,about 17,000 flash cubes went off and Jimi just walked off the stage w/o playing a note IIRC.Soon after he went back to England he was dead.

drumminmn, I think it was originally done or at least written by folk singer Billy Roberts

Thanks for the info - I'll have to find that version and give it another listen.

I never saw him in concert, but his live stuff left me cold. His first two albums and parts of Electric Ladyland were brilliant, but most stuff after that was . . . . . . boring. I read that even he was getting bored and was searching for something new when he passed away.

Even though Noel Redding was not a true bass player, the stuff he did with him and Mitch Mitchell was so superior to everything that came later IMO.
