Really bad

I finished work early today, and decided to get the oil changed in the company van. It needed it, and I went to a convenient place on the way home. Probably been about a year since I've been in this place, and noticed they hung a LED on the wall. Didn't really pay attention to it, because ESPN was doing the basket ball thing, and If it isn't football or hockey, I really don't care about it. After about 45 minutes of searching the web, I got bored, and looked at the TV again.

I guess it was about a 50 inch screen, made by LG. It had to be the absolutely worst picture I have ever seen. I've seen 20 inch, no name brand TVs with foil wrapped on rabbit ears with better pictures than this thing had. I don't know what model it was, or even if anybody bothered to take it out of demo mode, just the picture was horrendous.

I'm sitting there tilting my head left and right, and trying to figure out if I'm watching an actual commercial, or some really bad special effects on some sci-fi movie. You know where the kind of blur the face in some nightmare scene where the hero sees the future in some dream or something.

It actually looked like this ladies face had no definition. There was no perception of depth what so ever. I really couldn't believe what I was seeing, nor could I dream up any reason why this picture was so bad. I even commented on it to one of the people working there. This guy laughed, and said he thought it was pretty bad also.

Then another employee, I guess shooting for manager or something said it was probably because that station wasn't in HD. So I asked him if he was nuts, or just plain dumb. HD or not, that is simply a really bad picture. Probably the funniest thing was the guy with the "not broadcast in HD" theory. He was probably mid 20's, and looked at me like I had no idea how these things work. Sure, HD looks better than standard def, and blue ray better than dvd, but if the actual TV has a crappy picture, it won't really matter.

I was going to suggest the go to C-Net, and use there set-up, but figured it would be a waste of time. Why would it help, they didn't spring for the HD package, so nothing will help.

Maybe it was broadcasting 3D content and you weren't wearing your glasses? :razz:

Yup. My last oil change was 20 minutes, and I don't even go to a "quickie" place.

Dudes, I went to Jiffy Lube the other week and they have the pit style garage no lifts.About 4 guys were doing the top work and 2 were in the pit and it took under 10 minutes for the whole shebang just like a NASCAR pit stop. Also they give you a receipt that's good for a free car wash that's near me and do run specials by e-mail. No affliation but if time is important to you this is the place to go .Mine is on RT9 north Sayerville.With the special I think it was about $37.00.They did check all fluids ,topped them off checked air in all tires and vaccumed the entire car.

I have done my own oil changes since I was 18 and I let it drain for at least
30 minutes, sometimes overnight.
I also jack the car up at an angle so every bit drains out.
I also wash and clean my own cars neither has never seen a "carwash"

The time it took to change the oil really doesn't matter, I get the tires rotated every oil change also. It's the company van, and when I get vehicle maintenance preformed, I'm on the clock. I'm also limited in the places I can go. The vehicles are leased, and unless an emergency occurs, it is where the leasing company specifies.

That being said, the average time for me to get oil changed, tires rotated, and general vehicle look over, fluids topped off is about 1.5 hours. The biggest 2 reasons for this is I can only do this on weekdays, and it seems the only times of day are late morning/early afternoon. Weekday and the time frame just happen to be the busiest times for routine maintenance.

I know there are places, even those allowed by the leasing company, that I could go to and be out of there more quickly, but I choose not to for one very specific reason. I know the people working on my vehicle personally, and more importantly, they know me. If any of you has driven in the Austin area in the last couple of years you know why.

97 point check eh....not 98,99 ? Heck, check for spicy cheetohs hiding under the seats and make it an even 100.

Jiffy lube sucks, plain and simple. Every time I've used them they get oil all over the under carriage and when I get home it's dripping on my garage floor. Twice they installed the wrong filter, and always seem to never have anything that fits a Lexus. So they have alternative filters which are crap, the threads aren't right and always leak. Never again will I spend a dime at Jiffy.
