hi guys/gals
i would like to ask for some advice. i am quite a novice at this...
i have a pair of klh floor speakers model 283a. nothing fancy or expensive. here are the specs:

# 3-Way Tower Design with Dual Woofers
# Dual 8" Polypropylene Woofer
# 5-1/4" Liquid Cooled Dynamic Mid-range
# 1" Liquid Cooled Dome Tweeter
# 8 Ohms Average Impedance
# Magnetically Shielded
# Suggested Amplifier Power: 5-250 Watts
# Frequency Response: 35 Hz - 20 kHz
# Crossover Frequency: 900 Hz, 2800 Hz
# Sensitivity: 90 dB @ 1W - 1M

i also have a pair of old polk monitor 5 speakers. all i know about these speakers is that they are 4 ohm.

i would like to integrate the two pairs into a surround system using the monitors as the surround speakers.

my question is do you think this would work very well? and, if so, can you recommend a center channel speaker that would work.

i appreciate any feedback you could offer.
thanks

You will hear a difference as the sound moves from the main speakers to the surrounds. If you're not that picky it should be just fine. Not sure which Polk center will work out with the KLH, sorry.

Your surrond amp has selectable volume for each of your speakers. It is a huge help on mix/match speakers to bring them together.

Digital Dolby+DTS use the center speaker as a work horse.
Chose the most you can afford, 90% of your vocals are here.

Please post what amp you have.
    Front: LSI7
    Center: LSIC
    Surrounds: LSI7
    SVS PB2-ISD SUB [MONOLITH!]
    ATI 1805 Amp

    thanks for helping...
i have a sony model str-de-575 controlling the system.
i figured the sound might be a little different traveling from one speaker to the other. i'm not too picky (right now), as long as it isn't too noticable. i just figured that since i already have these speakers, i would try to make them work as best as possible.
