So a bunch of us guys from Polk Forums and AK members had a little impromptu GTG last night. We all met at a AK members house and had a BLAST. It was fun to see all the folks we knew in common that connected us to each other. Most of the guys had actually met a time or two just didnt know it.
The folks there included:
indyhawg (Jeff) - Polk
me - Polk
trav0821 (Travis) - Polk
bored184 (Jonatha) + dad - Polk
dr morbeius (Kurt IIRC) - AK
mccarty350 (John) - AK
yesshows77 (??) - AK
We put our ears on the following speakers: AR9, DQ-10, Infinity RSII, ADS L1590, BA-400, Genesis Physics III, Focal Chorus 826V
The front end we used was : Emotiva XDA -> Yamaha M-80 & Yamaha PC2602)
You would think that was a TON of speakers... yeah well we didnt get a chance to here these ones, which were also there: Klipsch Chorus, ADS L1590, Polk RTA12B, DCM TW 1a
The DQ10's also had the rare external crossover and sub module with them, and let me tell you they were AWESOME. The AR9's lived up to the hype as well as the Infinities... Overall the night was a blast of drinking, talking and listening to audio. We had a computer connected to the Emotiva and John (mccarty350) the host had about 1 TB of music that was of a VERY HIGH quality. We had SACD rips, 24/196 hd-tracks downloads, FLAC.... MP3 was a dirty word .
Needless to say I hope that we can have another of of these meets in the near future, and hopefully make it a FULL DAY affair ... Jeff I am talking to you
I took two pics of the setup, one if of the main listening area, the other is of the office where the other speakers live . I didnt really want to focus on taking pictures because well it was all about the MUSIC!
P.S. DouglassConnection cables made an appearance, but were not thrown in the mix as the host isnt a cable guy and I didnt want to start an argument of any kind. One or two of the guys seemed interested in them, so I am hopeful doug might get a sale or two as a result.

Well its been a long time since we had one I attended. Last one was just me Jeff and John (nooshinjohn now in CA) and that was about 3+ years ago..
Just start finding folks near you and see where it goes from there. I made a BUNCH of contacts for stuff last night so hopefully it will help me in my CL searches as more than one set of eyes is always good..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." They sounded pretty good. Unfortunately I heard a set of Heil's beforehand... well and they basically set the bar too high.."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
