Too much SDA effect

Would changing the large inductor have any effect on the SDA having more presence?Interesting. I have been wondering if the SDA effect could be increased by basically doing the inverse of what you suggest.POLK SDA 2.3 TLS BOUGHT NEW IN 1990, Gimpod/Sonic Caps/Mills RDO-198

Turned out to be a tube issue. Interesting points about adjusting Sda effect. Two Channel-SDA SRS 1.2tl's,modded, Cambridge Audio 851w amps(2),Cambridge 851e pre, VPI Scout 1.1 tt, Moon audio phono pre, oppo bd105.

I'm sure the electronics of the SDA speakers were designed perfectly for those people who can setup their speakers and seating position according to Polk instructions. Those of you who have a dedicated listening room are very lucky to be able to setup your SDAs properly.
I have been thinking about what could be done for those of us who don't have the optimum setup. In my case I have to sit farther back than is recommended due to my speakers being in the living room where I have little flexibility in how the furniture is arranged. The result is that I don't get the full SDA effect because I'm sitting behind the location (sweet spot) where the cancellation of crosstalk is greatest. It sure would be nice to find out how to adjust distance of the sweet spot from the speakers by making changes to the speaker electronics. I'm sure it could be done but I'm not smart enough to figure out how to do it.- SDA 2BTL · Sonicaps · Mills resistors · RDO-198s · New gaskets · H-nuts · Erse inductors · BH5 · Dynamat

Just wondering, is it too much power going through it that it would fry the resistor, does it alter the sound?
New idea then…. place some sound absorbing material over (or partially over) the sda drivers. You could experiment by draping a towel over them (only the sda side) and see if the sound changes to your liking, try different thicknesses of towel/cloth?
Mostly joking but still would be an interesting experiment."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
I'm still very curious as to see the room layout, or at the least a drawing with accurate measurements. You did state this happened after you changed to the current room, not leaving out your preamp issue if that was part of the problem.
That being said, you also noted a difference when you changed the preamp, any chance you may have a bad interconnect?
Did this preamp work in the other room? -
Something else I wanted to add, back in the day when I was using other interconnects that were extremely tight fitting, I had a RCA jack pull loose from the receiver and didn't notice it. I just don't think it's a speaker issue as of yet.

I'm a few days late on this one, but good to hear things worked out for you.
