Looking for a small, under 6 cup, rice cooker that does really well with brown rice. We already have a cooker but my wife prefers white rice and i prefer brown so would like my own personal one :) The cheaper the better of course...the Japanese ones would be really nice but way out of my price range :(

Zojirushi NP-HBC10 5.5 cup and never look back. It is induction heating (most like even better than the fuzzy logic).

Perfect brown rice even GABBA if you are in to that, excellent steel cut oats on the porridge setting.

Expensive, but we use this 4 or 5 times a week. Amazing machine. Picked mine up a Kohls when they do their 30% off coupon deal; sometimes Amazon matchs or has an even lower price.

    Hey man.

My wife's from Indonesia and she knows her rice cookers inside and out.

Still using the one her mom gave her 15 years ago.

    Cooks brown rice great.

Her advice - Get one from an Asian grocery.

PM me with your e-mail address for more details/discussion.

I eat rice everyday. It is my primary food source. I would also recommend Zojirushi or Tiger, do some shopping around and you should find one for a good price. With your preference of under 6 cups, the price should be even less.

The problem with low priced cookers is the uneven heat and the ability to keep the rice warm. The rice will burn at the bottom and will also spoil within 24 hours (depending on season). Now, you could still buy the lower priced cookers (under $60), just make sure to unplug it once the rice is cooked. Store in fridge what is left over.

You could also get buy with an Emiril by TFal. Cooks very well, and does not burn the rice. It will slightly dry out the rice over extended periods, like over two days.

    Good luck on your search.

Edit: you could also always register an email address with bedbathandbeyond.com and receive a lot of 20% off coupons to use.

What Halen said, Zojirushi or Tiger. Don't skim, or you'll be ending up buying another one w/in 4-6 months.

When I want to cook rice, I use AT&T. Even comes with a side of sweet and sour pork and crab ragoons.
