Are the old POLK RT series made of MDF or it just the front baffle that was made of 1' MDF. I have the RT7 but I would rather not open them to find out. Do you have the old RT3, RT5, RT7...etc

I do not think the "old" Polk speakers were made of MDF!...I do not know if the RT series are made of MDF...it says the front is made of 1' MDF but what about the walls, top, rear?...I think the old Polk were made of Particle board. We need the info from Polk fellas!

You are correct, lanchile. Not all of Polk's speakers were manufactured using MDF.

I believe just about every speaker is MDF all the way around. They might be different thicknesses in areas, but it should all be MDF. The "real wood" is the veneer. If a speaker was made of real wood, the sides would flex and I believe have different resonance issues.

Not all speakers are MDF. There are a plethora of materials used. I think you may have even read about one of them. Check this older model out...

That's Magico, who makes all their current speakers out of aluminum, bracing, enclosure and all.

My mistake on MDF - I was thinking of Particle Board in that category as well. My point was that they don't make them out of wood. I was talking purely in the Polk line, not outside. Green Mountain even uses marble in some of their speakers.
OK, the problem here is I would like to know in POLK....I repeat POLK line. not others. I wanted to know if the Polk RT line were build "all" with MDF or MDF mixed with particle board. I know there are companies that build speakers with many different materials beside MDF. Some are build with Glass, metal, plastic, marble, real wood etc, etc.
