Yesterday I went down south to Bloomington/Normal to visit my niece who attends college there. The wife and I try and visit all out nieces and nephews who attend colleges within driving distance. We usually load them up with food and other necessities, take them out to eat, tour the campus, etc. An expensive day no doubt, but we enjoy helping the cause and making it a tad easier for the youngsters.

In the past, on many occasional college visits, we run into the usual "barely scraping by" scenarios. Understandable....except this time. This time I wanted to go back to school. My niece lives in a Sorority House. When she told me that, Animal House was bouncing around in my brain and didn't know what to expect. Let me tell you guys, you'd want to live here and never leave.

First off, the place is huge, well maintained, modern furniture....nice furniture too. Fireplace, study rooms, hang out rooms, HD big screens. looked like a typical upper middle class home. Has a few kitchens, one in particular is the size of a small ballroom. Coffee maker, espresso, juice machines, pop machines, toaster ovens, you name it. Looked like a set-up you see in any buffet. The best part.....they have their own chef. I told my niece to stop f$$king with me. Your own chef ?? They can request anything and the guy makes it. He puts up a menu for the week but the kids can change it anytime if they give him enough time.

Holly smokes, no wonder these kids become professional students. I wouldn't want to leave either. Kind off reminded me of an upper class Bordello. All gorgeous girls, living in one big house....in style, looking for husbands. Didn't see an ounce of homework anywhere, didn't see anyone doing any either. It was Sunday though, so I imagine the hangover factor played into that as well.

Where do I sign up ? Funny thing, had my in-laws with too and after we said our good-bye's my father in-law forgot to drop her some cash. He goes back up to the door, another little hottie answers the door in a t-shirt and panties. Needless to say, pops stood there chatting up a storm taking in the sights. Me ? All I got was the swat on the back of the head from the wife.

Our son attends a University where the female students out number the males almost 2-1 with an enrollment of 20,000. He has entered the time of his life to say the least.

He's a first year, but has already informed us that he wants to stay and obtain his doctorate, imagine that. His mother is elated, I just had to grin and give him "that" look of approval

That's an expensive option for school. I'm glad they have the money for it.
I sure don't. My kids roughed it. No frat stuff for them.

At least some of them are. Where do you think those bored housewives come from?
    Spoiled college girls.

    Amen bro.....pennies.

I don't mean to paint with a broad brush on the "looking for husbands" thing, but it's painfully obvious. Some of these girls are in their 3rd year with no major yet. HUH ? Sorry....then your wasting your parents money and your not there to learn. Even my niece in her first year still doesn't know what she wants to do. So why are you there then ? She's blonde and drop dead gorgeous too.

I know far too many women who went to college, even managed a degree in this or that, only to be completely happy with being a housewife. A degree to some is a pedigree of sorts. To attract certain higher class men, you need a degree in something, anything. How many are actually looking to become self sufficient with careers they actually want to do ? Granted some are, but a good percentage use college as a very expensive dating service.

Luckily, my niece is very grounded in her morals, not a big drinker, never any drugs. Just very confused on a big world that awaits her. She's very afraid of making the "wrong" decision in her career path.....and men. Geesh....if we all were too afraid to do that we'd make no decisions at all. Life doesn't hold any guarantee's of success or happiness. That's why we call it "living your life" that you create. My fear is she's all too comfortable with the college lifestyle she has, and seems more concerned about living that than creating a life beyond college.

John/Jesse- they'd have you spending the kids college fund
Me- I'd say "fukitol", figure it out, go outside on the deck with a glass of wine.
H9- He'd have to consult the circus midgets before responding.
