Either a single 10awg or dual 12awg line would suffice. At the outlet I would opt for a high quality 15amp duplex recepticle .Think Hubbel hospital grade or better. You don't want to piss away the extra current delivery capability with high contact resistance due to poor recepticle contact pressure.

Use 10 gauge and a 30 amp breaker to a single 20 amp rated outlet for the amp and you'll be fine.
Perhaps an electrician or someone more familiar with "code" will chime in. I was under the impression that a 30-amp breaker cannot be connected to the standard 20-amp rated outlet.

20-amp breaker(s) and 20-amp duplex outlet(s) are similarly NOT optimum. A 15-amp circuit for each power cord of the amp would be best.

I do agree with you on the desirability of 10-gauge in-wall wiring.

The amperage of the breaker should be determined by the size of the wire used.

It's not code approved, but so effing what, it works like a dream. There's nothing about a 30 amp outlet that makes it better than a high quality 20 amp outlet. I sure as hell would not use a standard grade outlet for anything more than a lamp or the like anyway.

Of interest, code states that you can use a 15 amp duplex outlet with a 20 amp breaker as long as the wire is 12 gauge or greater.

The wire gauge is the important thing as the breaker is protecting the wire. You must use 10 gauge with a 30 amp breaker.
