Denon X4000?

Any thoughts on the Denon X4000?

I need to replace my pre/pro because I want XT32. If I am going to stay with my current 5-channel setup, I will likely just get a newer pre/pro, like the Onkyo SC-5508; however, if I end up going with a phantom center, then I'd rather get a receiver, use the receiver to power the surrounds, and then replace my 5-channel power amp with a higher quality 2-channel power amp just for the fronts.

Thoughts?

    Hey Ben

Just curious but is XT32 going to really buy you any greater listening experience than your AV8003's Auddessy?

    How are the totems?

Well I'm hoping that it will! One big factor is dual sub eq, as I'm running dual subs. Plus the lowest crossover setting in the 8003 is 60hz, and I'd rather cross the MD's at 40.

The totems are a great match for surrounds, my hunch was right!

I had a 4311 for a while and really liked it. Unfortunately, when clearing out some stuff, I sold the Denon because I thought it would be easier to sell. (At least that is how I justified it to myself.) Over the period that I had it, I also had Onkyo tx-nr3008, Onkyo pr-sc5508, and a few Anthem processors. I thought it was the equal of any of them.

I have heard that X-4000 is very similar to the 4311 (and I assume 4520) with the main difference being the smaller power supply and amplifiers and some new features on the X-4000.
