Seeking advice on TV stand/entertainment center

I currently have a nice low profile TV stand for my 60" LED, but the major problem is the bottom of the stand is 4 drawers for game storage and whatever else (I was rushed in this purchase and it was a steal for the quality). The drawers are not see-through. The big and obvious issue here is I cannot place consoles, receiver, and center speaker inside that area. They have to be either on top, on a shelf above, or maybe a media rack next to the stand. I am going to explore the option of taking the drawers out to make room for the center speaker at least, but I think the supports are too narrow to fit anything like that in there.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a modern glossy black TV stand that has ample shelf space below the TV to fit a CS400i? How do you guys typically set up that center speaker? It's pretty big and you have to really pick the right stand to fit that thing properly. My TV is free-standing (not mounted on the wall or hanger), so it comes pretty low to the TV stand and the CS400 in front of it would block a lot of the picture. Is it even safe to put the TV on top of the CS400? It sounds not safe, haha. I was thinking of mounting a shelf right above the TV for the CS400i. Any thoughts on that? Any links to products you may already be using?
Ideally, I just want my ps3, xbox, denon and cs400 all to fit under the TV. I prefer a clean, sleek, modern glossy black look. If anyone has anything they are using and loving it, please suggest. Also, I think paying over $500 is just stupid for a TV stand, so I am looking below that price point, but feel free to change my mind if you are using something that's 100% what I am looking for.

That is actually a pretty good suggestion! Thank you for that! I am going to get measurements of the center speaker and see if it will fit in one of those shelves. Looks like it would based on that photo and the sizes of the dvd players etc. Are you using this stand by the way? Any comment on quality and sturdiness?
The only thing this stand lacks is a solid back with holes in it, so wires are easily managed. And by managed I mean I can just throw them all back there without having to zip tie them all and etc. since the wall masks the mess.Denon AVR-E300 5.1, RT1000p, F/X500i, CS400i, Vizio 60" LED 120Hz -
No, not using that one. I am sure you could fab something that would work quite well, might have to paint black. THey are out there just have to keep looking.

True. I'll have to troll the internet some more tonight. I've looked at dozens of stands so far and as you would expect there is always something missing that makes it less than perfect. I definitely like your fab idea for the back board, but unfortunately I just relocated to a new city and all my tools and places to work on things (like my buddies' garages) are back home, so it makes it difficult to DIY.
I'll keep looking tonight for more stands. Thanks for the 2 suggestions. I actually like them quite a bit. I have to make sure the CS400i fits in them, however.Denon AVR-E300 5.1, RT1000p, F/X500i, CS400i, Vizio 60" LED 120Hz -
If you like your current stand is wall mounting the TV an option?

Would your TV be too high if you put a riser/shelf over your center?

I find that center speaker is too low in a stand and prefer to wall mount and put center channel on a stand on the cab and off the wall. Much better center performance....My New Year's resolution is 3840 × 2160

I like my Z-Line Designs TV stand that I got from Target for less than $200. I use it in my secondary system with a 46" Panasonic plasma, a Polk CS400i center (with the front lifted about 1-1/2"), an Onkyo TX-SR805, Sony SACD/CD player, Sony Blu-Ray player and a DirecTV control box all positioned on it. It's the Balboa Park model and is made of steel and glass and has a metal mesh panel at the rear for cable management/hiding.
They also have wood and glass ones that look pretty nice:

This is an awesome idea! I think this is so far the most budget friendly and effortless solution so far. The wall mount idea sounds great, but I'll still have wires running in the open, so I'm not so sure. This riser solution looks elegant enough.
They are probably stating dimensions on the outside of the supports, huh? I'd have to really make sure the center fits in there.Denon AVR-E300 5.1, RT1000p, F/X500i, CS400i, Vizio 60" LED 120Hz -

Wall mounting is definitely an option. There is plenty of wall behind there and it won't be super high. I can move it up high just enough to have room for all my consoles and the center in there. Great idea!
I am a bit sketched out by wall mounting such a heavy object, however. Can anyone recommend a wall mount they are using? Last thing I would want is for that thing to destroy my wall and my TV as it tears out from all the weight. However, my TV is a 60" LED, so it's not a behemoth in terms of weight, unlike a plasma that size. Are you guys just mounting the wall mount to the studs and that's it? I might even get one of those adjustable wall mounts where I can turn the TV toward the kitchen if need be.
Love this idea.Denon AVR-E300 5.1, RT1000p, F/X500i, CS400i, Vizio 60" LED 120Hz -

Monoprice is where I got mine. It's pretty heavy duty with cast aluminum arms. Not a bit of sag even fully extended. Think I paid $75 or so. -

Looks great. Glad it's not even sagging at all. I would be sketched out to see that!
Are you hanging your 50" plasma on that thing? That must be like 100 lbs or something, correct? My 60" LED should be nothing for that mount in that case.Denon AVR-E300 5.1, RT1000p, F/X500i, CS400i, Vizio 60" LED 120Hz -

Yep, holds my Panny just fine at about 71#. IIRC LED's are considerably lighter. -
Here's the thread when I did mine....

Should I go for the 300 lb max load one to be extra safe? http://www.monoprice.com/Product/?c_id=108&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082806&p_id=6517&seq=1&format=4#feedback
There's a 200 lb max one: http://www.monoprice.com/Product/?c_id=108&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082806&p_id=5920&seq=1&format=4#feedback
and 132 lb max: http://www.monoprice.com/Product/?c_id=108&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082806&p_id=6200&seq=1&format=2#description
Do you extend yours out? That seems super scary. These go out quite far away from the wall too!

Mine is out 21", no problems. I don't personally think you need a 300# capacity for a 50# display but that's your call...
-
Haha.. yeah, I think 300 is overboard, but it has the best reviews it seems. My 60" LED TV is probably 40-60 lbs so the 132lb will work just fine.Denon AVR-E300 5.1, RT1000p, F/X500i, CS400i, Vizio 60" LED 120Hz

As long as you hit studs with the lag bolts you'll be golden. Good luck!

Speaking of that... I live in a loft and the wall that the TV will potentially be mounted on separates the living room from the bedroom. However, the wall only goes up to "normal" height ceiling and then the rest is just space that goes all the way up to the actual loft ceiling. So this wall is more of a divider, since it doesn't go all the way up to the high ceiling. Do you think that greatly reduces the sturdiness of the wall and the studs, since they do not make contact with anything up top?Denon AVR-E300 5.1, RT1000p, F/X500i, CS400i, Vizio 60" LED 120Hz -

I'm looking for the same idea however wall mounting is not really an option. Been looking at a few stands that would hold the tv above the CS400 on the top shelf.

I think I'm going to go with the 150 lb wall mount option from monoprice, since it looks so clean and my low profile TV stand will look really nice underneath. That shelf thing someone had posted above was a close 2nd.Denon AVR-E300 5.1, RT1000p, F/X500i, CS400i, Vizio 60" LED 120Hz
