Just out of curiosity...what kinds of music do you listen to? For me it is a broad and a bit eclectic mix. I'm sure the same is probably true of many others here as well. Some of my favorites...the dead, SRV, the band, Hank III, merle haggard, levon helm, clutch, tool.

Yup. As long as the musician is talented and produces a well-concieved product, I enjoy many different kinds of music.

    Same here

For me it started with the Beatles and then it went in all directions. James Taylor to Black Sabbath etc. I must admit I don't much care for Rap and Disco. I'v grown to appreciate some country (Johnny Cash) and Jazz (Stan Getz) in recent years. More so the Jazz than the country.

I wouldnt say I listen to any one type of music. Most comes down to sound quality and production. Give me some rock, hard rock, classic rock, Jazz, Smooth jazz, country, pop.... Might even listen to some rap but not much. One of my hobbies is to borrow a cd or album from a friend that I have never heard. I am always open to something I have never had the pleasure of hearing.

My dad was a great lover of songs...had some very decent equipment too! When I was about eleven or twelve I stood in line three hours to get a mono copy of Meet The Beatles that I still own. That was the start of what you guys refer to as the rabbit hole for me!

I figured I would get pretty mixed responses. I know for me, my tastes are extremely wide. I am a professioan tattoo artist/body piercer and spend around 70 hours a week at work with music on. I have my computer playing through an older Sony stereo (after being on this site primarily for home theater I'm starting to get the bug to upgrade here as well). Don't ask why, but I did the math about six months ago. I work six days a week, twelve hours a day. If I came in to work one day and started my music in alphabetical order and then paused it at the end of the day, came in the next day and started it again and continued to do this...it would take 2 3/4 years to hear every song one time. And honestly, that wouldn't be possible to even complete because of the addition of new music during that time. A lot of days I will just put it on shuffle. Some clients will give very strange looks when it goes from Pantera to Elvis to Black Sabath to Beastie Boys to Aretha Franklin and so forth.

Everything but rap [except Eminem] and opera. Everything else? I'm game.

I listen to a lot of different music but lean toward 60's and 70's rock.

Yea I still have that album in mono I was 9 it was my first album. I haven't been the same since. I like most everything but gangster rap, Tejano and I am not much on Opera or old C&W. Mainly, medium rock, pop, jazz.

lol. this seems very true for me as well. when I was a teenager it was pretty much just current music that I listened to...and I wouldn't be caught dead listening to anything my parents liked. Now that I'm 35...it seems I like a lot of my parents music. When I get into a certain band or artist I then start to look into who that artist listened too and who influenced them and trace it back further.

I used to listen to a lot of college radio to get away from top 40. I'm all over the place with genres. Regular rotation is classic rock, jazz, alt rock, blues and a little grunge... Cannot stand any new country or pop stuff. I like some rap every once in a while.

I go to a few concerts when the prices of tickets are reasonable.

mr_natural78, is Clutch stopping in your area? I'm going with a Buddy December 30 to the Cleveland show.

Clutch will be in Joliet Illinois and Fort Wayne Indiana in November. I will most likely catch one of them. I have seen them more times than I can count. They are in Indianapolis and the Chicago area a couple times a year and I catch them at one or the other, or both, at least once a year. They are one of my all time favorites. I saw a band called Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band open for them in Indy a couple years ago. Rev Peyton's is from the west side of Indy, Speedway to be more specific so it was a hometown show for them. I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan of them as well. It was one of the best performances I've seen.

Of all the concerts I've been to only one opener caught my attention. The black angels opens for the black keys at the agora in Cleveland.

I'll check out reverend payton's big damn band.

Saw clutch 3 time in 10 years. They put on a hell of a show.

Reverend peytons big damn band has some stuff on youtube. There style is very different and it isn't big band at all. It's a guy who plays guitar and sings, his wife who plays...get this....washboard....and then a drummer. It sounds a lot fuller than you would think though.

Inthefade, I just noticed the Hunter S. Thompson quote in your signature. He is one of my favorite writers. My last name is actually Thompson and my son is named Hunter after the good doctor. My son is Hunter W. though and not Hunter S.

I dig Hunter. I've read a few of his books. I love how ballsy he was to writing all those letters. Even dig the fiction.

Gotta be a big fan to name your son after him.
