I just hope they don't let Page have anything to do with remastering.

This is going to kick some serious A$$!!!!!!
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Can't wait to hear them. And then hear the original artists' versions Page copied from.“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”

While these unreleased tracks should be really cool, and I'll certainly be up for them, it's the remasters of the back catalog that really excite me. I'm not expecting some outtake with JPJ singing to be the next coming of Kashmir or Whole Lotta Love. The existing set of remasters are weak, my Japanese vinyl lays waste to the most current digital versions. Jesse, you are so right, Page does a lot of things amazingly well, but mastering in the sound booth ain't his thing. Maybe it was, once upon a time, perhaps all the years of playing live have caught up with his hearing. Take the original tapes, hand them off to a Kevin Gray or a Steve Hoffman, and let's get the ultimate Zeppelin masters finally out the door!Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I am hoping that the remasteres will also be released on hybrid SACD. Are you listening Jimmy!?!?

I have just about all the outtakes ever released on bootlegs. These are either completely new or just better and perhaps more complete versions if I was going to speculate. I doubt very much they are complete, brand new songs. The great thing about all the snippets of outtakes is it gives a great insight to how the band created music.
The several dozen outtakes of Black Dog, for example, show Jonesy trying to get the odd time signature across to Bonzo. Lot's of banter and starts and stops, etc and finally it just clicks...........THAT's what's interesting about the outtakes. They are usually small snippets of the songs as they unfold. Like the Stairway to Heaven outtakes that have all 3 of the solo's Page came up with, but they only used one in the final recording.
Or hearing Plant making up lyrics on the fly for songs. Or acoustic treatments of very familiar songs that aren't acoustic versions.
I hope they are something worth putting out and can give an insight as to how some of the best music of all time was created. Getting an insight to the creative process is extremely fascinating to a person who doesn't play in a band.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it.
