My first radio as a kid was a 7 transistor radio, Mangavox (I think) single ear plug, AM only. I loved that thing! Listening to Paul Revere and the Raiders, Simon and Garfunkel, Righteous Brothers, etc. Great times and memories!Carl

Great way to start her off listening to talk radio. Dave Ramsey may make her rich.>

Oh yeah, the little transistor radio.......cranking it (LOL) down at the beach listening to that rock & roll music. Good times!Political Correctness'.........defined

Parents gave me a very similar one for my birthday back in 5th grade, but it only had 3 transistors. Birthday is in early December and remember taking it to school for the customary Christmas party that schools used to actually have back in the day.
... couldn't pick up squat due to the amount of rebar used in the school's construction (German pillbox architecture), but I still was pretty hot stuff that day. : ' ) ( despite the fact my parent's cheaped out on me with only a 3 transistor radio)
Way cool that your daughter appears to have "the bug". : ' )Sal Palooza -
I must have been in elementary school when my parents bought me a 10 transistor (not sure the brand, may have been a Panasonic made in Taiwan?) AM radio like the one above. I could get NYC with it no problem. WABC was the station back then. They had the cute jingle? lol Used to listen to that all the time. 9 volt battery, plastic ear piece. The good old days?

Haven't tried it yet, she's wanting to try the battery out to see if it will hold a charge, yeah it has the ear piece also.
I guess the guy who sold it to her had purchased the contents of some mom and pop pharmacy place and found it in box of stuff.
Maybe I should have went with them.. Its sitting on her shelf with a few old cameras and such. -
My transistor radio would play "Red Roses for A Blue Lady" & "Winchester Cathedral" on the school bus. Xmas gift, 1965 or 66.

Some of us on the Forum are old enough to have used the early transistor radios and to have very much appreciated what they did for enjoying music while perambulating!
