The HK990 looks wicked for $2000. RCA, XLR, and digital inputs with signal processing or analog pure direct. Power is 150wpc at 8 ohms, and doubling into 4 ohms (dynamic power rated at an additional 30%), with a maximum current rated at 200A. Maximum power consumption is 1000W, so seems to have a solid dual-transformer power supply with lots of power available to the amplifier section.

Wouldn't spend 2 grand on an HK integrated....that's just me though. The OP already bought one so I'm pretty sure he's playing Al Bundy on the couch right about now.

What did Troy end up going with? I don't see his final choice here.

Zingo pulled the trigger on the MF A5 and it's been long enough for him to have gotten it by now - so am curious to know how that is working out for him.

Troy found a slightly used MuFi A1008. I look forward to hearing his impressions.

Uggg... The unit arrived damaged, whether by UPS or it was shipped that way doesn't matter to me, but it didn't meet the description of the eBay ad. I've been jumping through hoops with UPS and the seller, but haven't been refunded yet. I've escalated the issue through Paypal and am waiting for resolution, but am running a Denon DRA-335R on the SRS-2s for the time being which sounds surprisingly good.

    Awww...that really sucks.

I hope everything works out and you get your money back.

I was looking forward to your review and how blown away you were with the SQ!

    Sending positive thoughts....

    All,

I did end up purchasing a minty MF A1008. As F1 alluded to......I've been beating it like a red a$$ monkey every chance I get.

    More to follow.

Well I finally got a refund on the broken A5, but didn't join the integrated club with a closer to home purchase. Picked up a Forte F44 preamp and B&K ST202 amp for the SRS 2s. Currently it needs a little tweaking and I may do a recap, but I'm having a hard time arguing with the sound of a class-A Jfet preamp into a high current A/B Mosfet amp.

And how! It is a fantastic looking integrated, and with the DAC section and tube front end, I'm not sure what could be better?

Not so sure about the dac section MF throws in their integrateds, but the amp and pre are worth it alone.

After selling off my preamp and amp, I've had three separate deals fall through trying to get a Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista 300. I threw in the towel today bought an LSA Statement Integrated. A little more money that I was planning, but hopefully it will be the last amp I buy.

I will, but it will probably be a month or two before I can really give impressions. I won't get it for a couple weeks (they are built to order). Then I have to let it burn in for a couple weeks and probably roll a few different tubes I have to try. Luckily, it uses the same tubes as my previous BAT VK-30 preamp, so I have a nice little stash of tubes to try. It only uses 2 tubes though (instead of 6 like the BAT).
