Do I need a pre amp. when I have an OPPO105?

The back ordered Parasound P5 pre amp has still not been delivered. This has given me several weeks to enjoy my new OPPO 105 directly with my new Parasound A21 amp. and having a great time doing it. Now, I do have a separate NAD PP3i phono pre amp for my turntable and wondered if that could be used as a source for the OPPO?
Should I cancel my order for the P5?
What would you advise?

Delivery on the P5 should be around the end of November. The rest of your questions I can't help you with. Sorry.

    Thanks Ratster,
First they said September, then October, now November?!
Thank goodness for the OPPO BDP 105 working directly through my new A21, allowing me access to on line content, my blue rays, DVD's and CD's, so that I've hardly missed the P5.

No personal experience, but logic dictates that a dedicated pre amp would result in better sound than using a piece primarily designed for format playback.

    Robin,

If you like the sound your getting, try the P5 when it arrives and if it doesn't blow your skirt up then simply send it back. My guess is the P5 will sound a tad better possibly because of a better built analog output stage in it. But who knows, we can't listen with your ears so that will be your decision on which way to go.

    Gentlemen,

The P5 arrived a week ago and I'm still evaluating, or should I say enjoying.........
Everything I bought recently is much better than I'd experienced before that I'm not able to split hairs or critique the wonderful sounds I now hear. I suppose when my understanding of its capabilities improves and I acquire a new TT set up I'll appreciate the P5 more. I am keeping it. Ahead also is the conversion of a 500 sq ft. "rumpus / storage room" into an entertainment area. Good things to look forward to.

Good for you Robin, we are glad your liking what you hear. Life's too short to listen to crappy music and drinking bad wine so live it up.
