I know Herb Brooks would have had him doing some "Herbies" after that goal for "showboating", as I had to do a few of those myself.(god how I wished he would have choked on that whistle!)
Afterwards he would have put his arm across the kids shoulder and simply said "Helluva job". I learned quite a bit from those couple of summer camps with Herb... but there are some things that cannot be coached or taught.
This kid is better than Wayne Gretsky...The Gear... It's a show boating move for sure, that's been done by some others over the last few years as well. That's entertainment, I kind of like it. I think the issue some have with it, is that the timing wasn't great. That move while you're running up the score has some thinking it's a bad combination. Like or not though, he may want to skate with his head up next time they play the Rangers, hockey karma can be a b*tch -

My feeling is if team doesn't like goals then their goalie should stop the shots. :rolleyes:Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Similar to what Bobby Bowden used to say when his FSU teams were perennially top 5 and he was accused of running up the score: Our job is to score and it's the other team's job to stop us.

Let's not forget that he is the leading scorer in the NHL at the moment as well. Having been around Hockey for a good chunk of my life and seen some amazing talent as team mates and as opposition, it is not too much of a stretch for me to say this kid is a once in a generation type of talent. I don't know if he will have the ability to break all the Great One's records, as that will depend on way too many factors, but I can say he is just about the most exciting player to lace them up and hit the ice in a very long time. The Gear...
