Interesting! I've never seen an NEC CDP, but for $5 bucks how can you go wrong? I have an old Sony I picked up for about $8. Run it with my vintage pieces, pretty nice, laser still running. That was before Sony, etc. decided that a laser pick-up should not last more than 3-5 years (preferably 3 years).
Have fun!

A few years ago I picked up a Kyocera 610 off of eBay and it was one of the worst sounding CD players I'd ever listened to. Sold it about a year ago. The NEC it quite a nice sounding player.

I sold NEC products back in the day. They made some pretty good pieces.
