i just got a new intergrated HDTV. I hooked up my Tohshiba DVD player using component video.. now which setting do i select? Progressive or interlaced on the player? I switched back and forth between the two.. and I don't see any diffference at all. i mean zero.
how about 3:2 pulldown.. does the TV do that automatically or what? I don't see any directions about 3:2 pulldown in the tv user manual.
TV is a 32" Zenith C32V37 intergrated HDTV (1080i) w/DVI
thanks, Al

hey dangerboy, you need to set it to progressive, because if it is 480i, then 480p is better, but if it is 1080i.......im pretty sure it isn't, then you need to put it there.
do you use component video? My Setup:
Toshiba Theaterwide 51H83 HDTV
Yamaha RX-V3300 reciever
Yamaha CDC-585 cd
Sony Progressive Scan dvd
Wharfedale Evo-30 mains
Wharfedale WH-2 side/rear surround
Wharfedale Evo-Centre center
Polk PSW-404 sub
IXOS speaker wire and cables -
I use the progressive option. This link may be helpful:

Congrats on the HDTV. I would go for 480p on the DVD side.

A bunch of the "HD" tube TV's don't do progressive. This is a sad fact I learned a couple weeks ago. A guy bought a Zenith "HDTV" monitor from us, and the only HD mode it will do is 1080i, and it would NOT even do 480p. Out of all the tube TV's in CC, I think only 3 would do 720p.

PolkThug -
Thaks for the heads up on that Polkthug. I didn't realize that and would have been pissed when I finally broke down and got a HDTV for the bedroom.
You should see a big difference in 480i and 480p. Even my mom could tell a difference... -
yeah i don't know what's going on with my tv.. there isnt' any difference between 480i and 480p. when viewing a dvd.
tv says it can do 480i/p, 720p, and 1080i
DVD's are what 480? so does that mean its not even 525 lines of resoultion as TV's should be in a 4:3 format?PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

one reason you do not see any difference may be because your tv is automatically upconverting everything to either 480p or 1080i.
-
Does your TV have an "info" button that tells you what signal you are receiving? Verify that the TV is seeing 480i or 480p.
