Hooked up the Monitor 5a's to the modest Yamaha CR-1040 for a test ride & it blew the roof off the house. LOL. Dont let let the size of these little guys fool ya-Attachment not found.they will surprise ya. The tweets really sound incredible & Brad Delp Boston Vocals-couldnt sound any better

I agree. I have a pair of these connected to a CR-800 in the bedroom and they sound great. What really suprised me was when I added a PSW 120. I wasn't expected much, but it helped the lower frequencies more than I thought it would.

I have my 5As on lowly JVC R-S33 Super A receiver. Only 40 watts x 2 but you can never slide the volume to anywhere near half way before it drives you out of the room. It also sounds very nice paired with Polk Monitors--has that synergy "thing"!

^ I have one of those, but alas the left channel is cutting out on it. When working does sound nice.

I listen to FM and an old Technics CD player. I didn't think it need a sub either but I picked it up at a yard sales for $20 just for kicks.

I did the same with a cheap one also, the Denon which is hooked to our little tv. but i never used it & it took up space in the bedroom. It had auto on/off & the red light on all the time drove me crazy. So i got rid of it-but it does ad some thump..

No, never heard back from him. Too late now, the 5a's were going to be part of that deal.
