Found a re-release of Layla and other assorted love songs and it's not sounding so good. I wondered if the original album was worth the hunt, if it sounded any better, or if it's just an overall bad recording.

I have the Japanese vinyl in gorgeous condition. Now that's some Layla.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Nice! So many good songs, and they sound flat and lifeless on this new release.

Thanks for the reminder. I was trying to think of something to listen to!

I have the D&D In Concert on Japanese vinyl as well.

One time many lifetimes ago I came across a box set of cassettes of the Layla session outtakes and there was some real good music on there. I haven't played it in many years, seem to remember some real long jams and extended length songs. Still have it somewhere maybe, but I would like to know if that was ever released on vinyl. The Layla vinyl itself is real easy to find inexpensively, George Grand has one on the For Sale forum for $4, and every used record store has one, if you want to compare SQ to the remaster.

I have the original on vinyl and CD, both sound very flat and 2 dimensional. Would like to have a better CD of this as it's so good.
