sonic frontier s F L 1 worthy?

Will be going by thurs.,sounds like there is not a setup to listen to it as he just sold his amp, i doubt mine will be here in time to use it.

Need to know if anyone knows of any known defects or problems, as well as any positive experiences.

i believe this is a tubed piece of gear, any enlightenment on the particulars of that aspect of this unit most appreciated

    Not a bad pre at all-- IIRC it's a one tube jobbie? Personally I like it-- just heard one at CF-- very pleasing.

    will be going to winder in the next few days to pick it up.

    Hoping my carver tfm25 will be delivered by then, thanks for opinions, peeked at some pics, and you are correct george, one tube in it.

    Will a unit like this need biasing and all that, kinda lookin forward to learning that, as well as rolling one tube.

    I've also been interested in this preamp there is a Signature SFL-1 local in my area that has my attention. I just wish it had a remote.

    I know, I bought that mystery tube integrated and the things 3k at full retail but no remote? Whats the deal with the tube toys not having remote controls?

    That's correct no biasing necessary on tube preamps, just tube amps. Another plus of the single tube is it makes tube rolling a lot cheaper. Even for the high dollar tubes, singles tend to go for better rates than matched pairs or quads on a per tube basis. Of course you only have to pay for one tube.

    great news there, both not having to bias, and maybe afford a nice tube.

    I read where the internal wiring was kimber cabling, sounds like quality.

    Im actually very excited.

    My carver tfm25 is now in atlanta postal service custody, maybe here tomorrow.

    One of the guys at CF had a tfm25 and the SFL 1. It did sound very nice indeed

    Scotty is this the signature version? I'm giving this preamp more thought.
