Anyone here use whey protein, after a good workout? If so what brand do you use and why..

I finally got my **** back to the gym, and have been loving it, I really missed working out. Back to my question, I used to use EAS products, whey protein, and createin, this time I have gone with NutraScience, it cost less then EAS, I got a 5lb tub for $50.

So I know we have some guys that workout, but was wondering what you guys use..

^Will check with my brother. He's getting his masters in Sports Kineseology and played D3 College Tennis and is a Ultra Marathon runner.

He knows this stuff like the back of his hand. Myself I just bought whatever was at Walmart when I was lifting... but I stopped that years ago

I use cryosport that I get from Costco. Seems to work pretty well but I haven't tried a lot of others. I like this better than the stuff I first tried that I got from Walmart.

The large quantities from Sam's or Costco are usually great priced. Currently, I'm using BSN Syntha-6 from bodybuilding.com. 10lb bag of chocolate for like $85. Google 'bodybuilding coupons' before purchase.

Another vote for Isopure. Half a serving before working out, the other half in a banana, peanut butter, coffee and soy milk smoothie after working out.

I don't use anything these days. I just figure if I can lift anything reasonably heavy for my weight, my body will adjust to take in more protein daily. Not trying to build any bulk, but maintain good body weight to lifting strength ratio so that I don't fall down and break a hip in a couple of decades? Besides, all that protein powder always gave me the "runs". I couldn't get to the bathroom fast enough after drinking it--get it out of my system. lol

I use Twinlab 100% Whey Protein Fuel, the vanilla tastes great. I order it from Swanson Health Products. They are currently out of vanilla, but I think they had strawberry the last time I looked, but I've never tried that before. You can get some really good deals from their website. It's $4.99 shipping no matter how much stuff you order, but do a search for coupons, you can usually get free shipping or 10% off.

I use Beverly International Supplements exclusively and get great results. Love their UMP protein, but hands down the best supplement from them is Muscle Synergy. Their prices are NOT cheap, but their quality is simply top notch! All supplements are not created equal. I've used cheaper priced stuff and well known brands in the past only to get very gassy or even the runs.

Ya get what ya pay for!

Optimum Nutrition is well respected and has been around for a while. They make a great Whey protein along with many other supplements. I crave a good protein drink after I workout hard with weights to help rebuild muscle. Check out their reviews (and prices) on Vitacost.com.

I used to power lift in the '70s and '80s. Then in the '90s into early 2000s lifted just to maintain a level of fitness and muscle tone.

I don't know how far the science has come in the last 25 years. I used Twinlabs and Biotest. Take a look at The Protien Factory,

you used to be able to custom blend your protien orders.

How much do you use of each, just brewed coffee, or instant?

One brewed Dunkin' Dark coffee(medium on Keurig), 1 banana, 1 heaping tablespook of Skippy natural peanut butter, 1/4 cup of Silk soy milk, 1 scoop of Isopure Natural(chocolate flavor), and a couple of ice cubes. Instead of taking a shower and nap after the gym, I'm ready to go out and be productive. Plus, I'm seeing better results as far as strength, etc...

Whey is whey doesn't matter where you get it. Personally I use the cheapest I can stand to drink. Six star or bodylogics are both cheap and taste ok. But seriously I supplement over 100g of protein a day 75g whey and 25g casein and consume another 100g thru natural sources, choose on taste and price cause its all the same the rest is just marketing bs. Another tip don't take it right after your workout wait at least an hour, the insulin released after consumption diminishes the testosterone and growth hormones your body produced during your workout. Waiting at least a full hour will allow you to take full advantage of your own anabolic hormones and then supplement your protein. I know what the label says to do, but that is not optimum for lean muscle growth. Good luck

Isopure is the only one that doesn't give me any stomach issues due to being lactose intolerant.

Thanks, I'm going to try it. I have always used fresh fruit, or frozen fruit, with a few ice cubes..

Jay Robb brand Vanilla doesn't have any sugar in it. It's sweetened with stevia. Helps keep the HGH active longer after a workout not having sugar as long as possible.
