Thanks and a tip of the hat to F1NUT for his recommendation of the Skylan Stands. After reading here, and looking them up and talking to Noel, I ordered a pair that he semi customized for me to fit my 703's. He said there was about 2 1/2 week backlog, and I wasn't expecting them for another week, but they arrived today. Well made, well packed and easy to assemble, and I filled them with sand all totaled 60 lbs. for the pair. They look nice, and got them to 28" height. They really tighten up the bass, and decided to throw my 5 B's next to them, and hook them up to the Marantz for comparison (S&G's). Got to admit, I couldn't resist plying them both at the same time with the 703's hooked tubular, and the 5B's to the Marantz 2252B. I am using the main out to the tube amp , and the record out to the Marantz. Rube Goldberg would be proud!!!!

Obviously the 703's blow the 5B's out with the fullness of range that they produce, but those old 5 B's and the Marantz give me a great retro throwback rig.

    Sweet set up! The guitars add a nice visual touch. Do the strings vibrate enough sympathetically that they can be heard when you dial in a bit of volume?

    Not anything that would be noticeable. I guess physically they do, but not that you can audilbly hear. My newphew is a Luthier and he says having them in the room where they vibrate actually seasons the wood, and mellows the tone. The room is pretty dead sonically.

    I'll take his word for it.

    I have 20" Skylan stands under my Harbeth's; they're pricey, but perfect for this speaker.

    But worth it!!! They are perfect.

    There are a lot of wobbly stands for half the price.

    As we learn thru this hobby, i might have considered the 705's if I woulda thunk of the $300 plus price for the stands, but that is the rabbit hole in a nutshell.
