Hi everyone.
I've decided to take the plunge and join the home theater club. I'm going to start with a 5+1 system and build from there.
My speakers are:
a pair of RTi10 ...
to be supported by a CS3 as a center channel
and a pair of RTi4 as surround speakers.
Driving these speakers was a Marantz SR52000 A/V receiver, but I want to change it to purchase a newer one.
Im changing the receiver because I'm opting for the a new Panasonic Plasma (and Playstation 3 and a bp620 LG 3d Blu Ray player) and I want to be able to take advantage of a complete HDMI 1.4 system when content to use that is available.
I dont have a subwoofer and I need a suggestion to choose a Polk audio model.
OK, here are my questions:
1) What gauge wire is best with these speakers? Can I use banana clips?
2) Suggest me a choice of receiver to provide enough power to listen comfortably in an apartment with a listening room that is approximately 12'x18'?
3) Suggest me a choice of subwoofer for the same listening room.
I appreciate any and all responses offered. Any general thoughts about this composition of HT elements would be welcome as well. It will also be listened to for general music as well though not in a critical manner.

Welcome to Club Polk.
1. Yes you can use banana clips. You could go with 12 or 14 gauge wire. I would recommend monoprice 12 gauge. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023901&p_id=2816&seq=1&format=2 Not sure if you would need 50ft or 100ft.
2. For an avr I would recommend one of a Pioneer Elite models like the SC-72. You could save some by looking for a used old model Elite like the SC-35 or 37. If you want to go with another brand I would just suggest making sure that the AVR has preouts in case you would like to add an amp at some point.
3. For a polk sub I would recommend the DSW 550 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290130 or the DSWpro550

Hope that helps and again welcome to CP. -

You may also look around for a Pioneer SC-1522 or SC- 1222, which are last year models.
For the subwoofer I would look at SVS or HSU. The SVS PB12-NSD or HSU VT2 MK3 would both work well in that size room.
Probably looking at around $2,000 with taxes and shipping. -
I would recommend monoprice 12 gauge.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

The LX57 or the 2023 depending on your budget or what extras you are looking for. Like Nightfall said something with pre outs.
As far as the polk subs go I will do some checking latter. Maybe someone else will chime in.
