sorry for the star ratings, I tried other things but confused myself
Battle Royale II (reg. 2) Dolby 5.1 -- movie ****, audio ****
(awesome mix, pretty creative though comparisons with the mixes on Starship Troopers and Saving Private Ryan, which the movie sometimes resemble, causes it to stutter)
Godzilla X Mechagodzilla (reg 3)-- movie-- ***1/2 audio-- Dolby 5.1 ***, dts ****
(dts all the way. It's finally what you'd imagine a giant monster movie ought to sound like)
Escape From New York--movie ****, audio Dolby 5.1 ***
(eh...dated elements sound strident. sometimes energized in the surrounds)
Once Upon a Time in the West--movie ****, audio Dolby 5.0 ***
(all upfront, to me anyway; it's stereo music tracks mostly, giving Morricone's music a showcase you will likely appreciate greatly)
Black Sunday-- movie ***, audio Dolby 4.0 ***
(mostly remixed stereo music cues and some slight improvements over a mono original. Fascinating hard-hitting modernist John Williams score benefits rather well)
Indiana Jones tril, Raiders of the Lost Ark movie ****, audio Dolby 5.1 ***
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, movie ****, audio ***
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, movie ****, audio ***
(big disappointment compared to the sparkly, full sounding, sharp PCM audio on the laserdiscs played through pro logic II-- the Dolby Digital versions sound weak and thin, like shavings of the real thing. Surround effects are hit and miss. For instance in the Temple of Doom, the scene in the mine as Jones swings out to the trolley car thingy, there are big gunshots in the surrounds-- the laserdisc in pro logic II replicates it as I remember from the theatrical 70MM magnetic 6 track mix, big and loud, whereas the dvd sounds thin and muted)

nice write up mlware. Although most of the movies you mentions were not on my list to buy...except IJ series and once upon a time.
