I found someone selling 6 Gik 244 Bass traps and I am going to pick them up Saturday I can't wait. The best part they only cost me $200 so I feel that I did really well. I can't wait until I install and measure the room. I have a calibrated mic now to run REW and will post before and after when I finish the project up.

My room has a lot of issues so these should helps a lot. I plan on mounting 5 of them on the rear wall and not sure as of yet where I am going to place the last one. I am also going to buy some 6" thick ones and place them in the 2 corners that I can use in the next month or so.

Congrats on your GIK score! By far one of the best additions you could make in your audio journey. I've been a happy GIK customer since '06 and regret not doing it sooner. I had tried digital correction back then but preferred acoustic treatments. With a full range of fabric color choices and even images, they can look great in a room too. For my room, GIK Tri-Traps (bass traps) were more effective for bass in corners than 244 panels hung straddling a corner. Depending on my room setup one or two corners will have stacked Tri-Traps.

Yes for now the 244's are going to cover the back wall and I plan to space them 4" off the wall for a total of 9.5" which should dig really deep. The 20x20x48 homemade monsters I made are going to be placed on the front and rear wall along the ceiling and then I will place some Gik monster traps in my 2 usable corners.

Yes that is true but with the concrete floor it will be hard to make dead. Plus the traps I made are wrapped in 5 mil plastic to block out some of the mids and highs from being sucked out. Right now the room sounds like a ecco chamber so this should really help a lot.

10/4 just had a buddy try to deaden a mancave from the rest of the house because of pinball machines and stand up arcade games....well he succeeded. Installed a stereo and surround and was completely bummed to the drab sound.

That's a super deal!! I've got the 244 bass traps also. I have custom covers that match the color of my walls almost perfectly.

These do make a difference. Everything matters!

Well I am still playing with the new traps but I have learned a few things.

    1. Adding a trap to a corner may make things a lot worse because that un-trapped corner maybe hiding a other issue. When I placed a trap in the left front corner I got a nice 45DB dip at 70hz. Not what I really wanted not by a far shot.

When I placed traps in my left rear corner however that really helped my room a lot and cancelled part of that huge dip.

    2. As many warned you surely can make a room very dead. Wile I have not got there as of yet the decay time of the room is now around 220ms from 40hz and up. I am still playing music and seeing if I like the changes or not. So far I like how tight the bass is. It hits hard and very fast no more slop. The mids are very nice and crisp the high end is a bit mellow though but I feel I need time to get used to it. My room would make your ears bleed before so this is a real change.

I ended up with no treatments on the rear wall I did however Mount the large 20x20x48 traps I built sometime ago to the wall ceiling on the front wall and that really tamed the room a lot. And I have 2 more of them I can mount on the rear wall if I choose too not sure on that one yet.

When I get more time in I will report back on how I feel but so far I love the changes. The other big test will be a movie or two and sense I have not redid the calibration on the Onkyo currently set that to off no point until that is setup again.

I can say this music without autocorrect sounded really bad because of the room. Now it sounds better then it had been when it was on.
