I used to jog a lot for maybe 15 years. I averaged 5 - 6 miles per run, about 4 times per week. I did 10Ks and 5Ks occasionally. I ran so much I ran the lateral meniscus cartilage right out of my knees. I had my last knee surgery 10 years ago. I haven't ran since. I miss it a lot. A runner's high is a wonderful thing!

I have flat feet and wrong forms when I ran, so PAIN on the knee and back was killing me. Now I am pain free because of corrected forms and proper foot strike. Being a minimalist is the key to the puzzle. It teaches you how to run correctly (avoid HEEL strike) to ease the load on your body. I run half M every weekend and 2-6 miles twice on weekdays. Shoes in rotation are 2 x Vibram 5 fingers (short distances), 3 x NB (2x4mm, 1x00mm), 1 x Misunu (stability-Long Distances), and 1 Puma Flat race. From 205lb to 170lb, Cholesterol is back to norm range.................Top it all, RUNNER's HIGH is better than BEER.

    doggie750,
I don't heel strike either. My feet landed mid/forefoot, which resulted in no ITBS pain or shin splint. Good for ya on the weight-loss bro, congrats.

I enjoy running, wish I had more time for it. When I do run, its either 4.3mi or 6.5mi, depending on how many laps I take. I was doing good for the last few weeks, averaging about 20 miles a week, but have fallen short the last couple weeks. I'm doing my 3rd tough mudder not this weekend, but next. I love them. Always a good time with friends.

I never had any foot issues.

When you are running correctly, your feet should make almost no noise, just a little pat, pat, pat . . . . Also after about 15 minutes your breathing rate should be such that you should be able to have a conversation with someone (while running) without sounding short of breath.

I'm talking about jogging now, not high intensity competitive running.

Great description! :) Cheers to you for making the effort to run outside in such hot weather in Florida.

I've been running for a few years now. Only run 3 miles at a time, 2-3 times per week. Try to do at least a couple of 5k races each year ... although it's been harder to keep that going in the past couple of years as we get busier with kids.

Just to the beer fridge and back to the patio table, does that count?

Usually 4 miles/day about 5 times/week. Keeps me slim with still plenty enough time for beer on the weekends. And I do enjoy the runners high.

    I have a 4runner in the driveway now......does that count? :)

Running always reminds me of what we had to do for punishment in various sports practices growing up, so I've never taken a liking to it. I prefer "accidental" exercise during a fun activity, if that makes sense at all. But more power to you running types. I admire your gusto.

Former decent runner. Currently run about 2 to 4 times per week. Sure has helped get my weight down since I've gotten back into it.

For me, using Superfeet inserts has been extremely beneficial.

So Jealous. I have had my back hurting and also I have a high hamstring injury (literally a pain in the ****). My wife is about to run herfirst marathon. I have done two 1/2 marathons with her and I am bumming I cant do the marathon with her too. I am sitting out for about six months and hopefully it heals sooner. Anyway I love to run and miss it. I am getting fat!
