Painting front of RT600's - questions

The vinyl "countertop" wrap on my RT600's was peeling up real bad around the edges. So I took the drivers out, removed the Polk badge and pulled the wrap off completely. After getting down to bare MDF, I attempted to sand it down to remove all the leftover glue. I thought I had gotten all of the glue but after putting down the first coat of primer, it's clear that I didn't.

Should I sand it back down and start over. Or after another coat of primer and about 3 coats of latex, will those glue imperfections still be noticeable? This is the first time I've done anything like this besides painting walls, so forgive my ignorance. If you have any tips, please share them.

Thanks!!!

I'd recommend using Zissner sealer primer as a base, otherwise you're going to have a very hard time painting MDF. This also works well on MDF: http://store.acrytech.com/Speaker-Cabinet-Coatings/ You can make it have the appearance of leather with some practice.

Thanks for the suggestion. In regards to the Duratex, it looks like primer is not necessary. Is that right?

That looks pretty awesome. I watched a couple of their Youtube videos and really liked the results.

Rolled. The trick is, to use the roller the width of the speaker for absolutely no seams.
