Very weird. The box is in intact with only 1 small shipping dent. Very well packaged and no exterior water marks . . . but, as the title states, there was a small amount of watery liquid on the face plate. I've got no clue! She's plugged-in and working fine. Audio only at this point, as it was just delivered late this afternoon.

Any ideas where the moisture come from?

What's the burn-in time for a piece like this? The sound is veiled!!

Without sounding like a smart ****, were you sweating while you opened it? Any chance it could have dripped off your body?

Hopefully not a buildup of condensation since that could be inside as well.
You need a solid 50 hours burn in.Put a CD in and loop it for a week.
Now's the time to find out if there is an issue.
    It came straight from OPPO?

This week has been crazy. MITs arrived (demos) so they were broken-in and the sound is awesome!!

Then the Oppo came today and the sound is veiled. Also, I'll need to upgrade the stock Oppo PC and my KK PBJs . . . .

Does it ever end? . . . rhetorical!!!!

Thoughts will be much appreciated. Especially regarding the DAC. I am serious looking at it as 2 channel player for my LSiM703. Really want to stream my lossless music.

Oh and congrats on the purchase!!

Congrats on the 105, great piece of gear! I wonder if perhaps the liquid could be a very light oil from the machining process of metalic body panels. Doesn't sound like something to be too concerned about if it's only on the outside. Enjoy your new Oppo!!!

Here is an Oppo 105 hardware faq page that shares design parameters.

    http://wiki.oppodigital.com/index.php?title=BDP-105_Hardware_FAQ

Being AC coupled, some time may be need for the output caps to settle in. They use Elna’s which are good caps. They don’t give values. Often times a value is used that works well with a range of pre amp impedances (or amp if connected direct), versus custom values based on your gear. You can better tune for corner frequency using custom values.

    http://www.v-cap.com/coupling-capacitor-calculator.php

They use the respected LME4562 op amps in the output stage. The ESS9018 Sabre DAC chip contains four pairs of DAC’s that the designer can configure as desired. Due to added features they did split up the DAC pairs to accommodate, such as headphone out. “1 pair for the RCA outputs, 1 pair for the XLR outputs, and 2 pairs stacked for the headphone amplifier.”

All in all a nice DAC. Congrats.

    ^^ Thanks, Rich . . . Good info ^^

    THE VEIL IS LIFTING!!

Between the new (to me)/demo MIT speaker interface and the brand new Oppo, the SQ and sound stage is shaping-up quite nicely

    I am pleased!

I read somewhere that it needs 150-200 hrs of burn in before it reaches its full potential. Keep us posted on the changes you hear.

BTW, what happened to the emoticons?
