How do I know if a have a blown tweeter on my cs4ooi? I was playing the EAGLES on DTS last night to test my DENON DVD2200 and I heard a brushing, scratchy sound coming from the speaker when the first kick drum starts out in HOTEL CA.:confused:

You shouldn't be hearing the kick bass in the tweeter I wouldn't think.

I fried mine while watching Predator. The easiest way to check it is to cup your hand and cover the tweeter. If it is blown you will not hear a difference in sound. If OK, it will sound muffled when covered.

Polk's customer service is the best out there. I recommend calling them if you think anything is wrong after checking it yourself.

I have blown a couple of tweeters once or twice.;)

You will hear a very noticable difference if that was the case. If you heard it when the drum kicked, I would look to one of the other drivers.

If you feel up to it, you could disconnect them individually to find the culprit.

I would give the CS Dept. a call. They are very cool and extremely helpful.

Only problem with Polk speakers is that baffle. Every Polk speaker should come complete with an ALLEN WRENCH that is made for THAT HOLE. I have to borrow the neighbors Allen Wrench because the ones I have dont fit the whole. yes it looks better to use allen screws, but they're a PAIN!

BTW - Check the woofers, doubt bass is coming from the tweeter. If thats the case, its most definetely a crossover problem. haha
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Thank you guys I think I'm going to take it apart first and see if I can find out what the culprit is.
