Good German components (in Germany)?

I've got a friend in Germany, and I'd like to help him upgrade his stereo equipment. I'm thinking of looking at the used market, and I was wondering if anyone here could help me with a couple of things:

1. What are some brand names and/or specific components to look for? (Remember, I'm looking at the used market.) I'm just thinking of basics at the moment: amplifier, preamplifier, cd player and/or DAC, speakers. Price-wise, I'm looking for entry-level stuff: amp-wise, the German market's equivalent to an Adcom GFA-545 (low) or Parasound HCA-2200II (high); pre-amp, the German equivalent to an Adcom GFP-565, maybe something a little better, up to $400; cdp, something around $200-400; DAC, $100-300. Speakers, $300-500. Again, these are ideal used prices.

2. Is there a German equivalent to Audiogon, Audio Asylum Trader, or Canuck/US Audio Mart? I assume there's a German ebay; are there German sites that anyone can buy from, without needing a certain number of posts etc.?

I would do the research myself - I love the internets - but I'm really busy right now, and I'm in a hurry because I'll be seeing him soon (over there) and want to be prepared. He can't figure it out himself, because he's a musician (). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Does said friend plan on staying over there as you can always find dual voltage gear that most of the GI's are selling before they transfer back to the states. I have a whole vintage set up of dual voltage stuff I bought when I lived over there. A lot of good deals to be found over there. A lot of that gear ends up in second hand shops. There used to be a lot of shops in the old section of Heidelberg that sold a lot of audio equipment.

Thanks for all equipment suggestions! I'm thinking we'll concentrate on amp and pre. He says he just found some nice "KS - Kuche & Co., Tertia D 70". Never heard of 'em. One of them might need some repair work, but he says they sound great.

Look near US Army bases...That's a really good idea. Might even find some familiar brands with the right kind of plugs. We'll be in Berlin; a quick check indicates that most bases are on the southwest side of the country (makes sense). We'll see.

    Plus, it's in German!

Amusingly enough, he's been there for several years, and still doesn't speak much of the language (like I said, musician ).

I still hold the few times I've demoed Cantons Vento series as the best bookies I've heard, to date that is.
