I've just recently gotten into working on my stereo system(paintball came first$$$) I've had subs before but always had them installed profesionally. I found a great deal on 2 GNX124 subs and I know I'll be hooked on getting better and better sound out of my car. Time to DIM(do it myself) I have a 2001 olds alero coupe and was wondering what info I could get from you old schoolers on Sub box fabrication, Head units, amps etc... without spending a fortune right off the bat. I would eventually like to get into amature comps. sorry I'm rambling I would be more than happy to help any of you out with Paintball tips or anything else I know.

amateur competition will cost you much more than you're willing to spend... worry about making your car sound pleasant to you and you alone right now... i've spent a fricking assload and i really do doubt that i'd take my truck to the lanes and do well ever... not enough $$... not enough time... not enough people... and thus not enough know how.

build your box out of whatever -- the gnx can do well in a particle board box... and that stuff is cheap as hell. screw and glue it together, caulk the seams... larger more power hungry subs would do better in 3/4" mdf boxes or better yet 3/4" cabinet grade birch plywood boxes --- but by the time u by the birch ply you could have gotten two more gnx subs... so don't bother just yet.
