Are SDA 1C and LSIM 707 magnetically shielded?

I am going to place it a few inches to a PC, but can't find the info on polk website.

    The SDA 1C's are not, but you can add bucking magnets.

    I'm not sure about the 707's

    Shouldn't matter - your pc wouldn't be affected by it anyways. Hard drive is pretty much a Faraday cage, and the computer chassis should be UL rated to keep EMI in, as well as out.

    I don't think my $15 case is UL rated :)

    anyone know about the 707? I am surprised polk website doesn't mention it at all.

    I don't believe you have anything to worry about. I regularily set my headphones directly on my laptop, no issues. I regularily set my laptop directly in front of my Monitor 5's and inbetween my RTA-12's, no issues.

    It's possible but it would take an extremely powerful, and probably energized, magnet to achieve what you are worried about. For reference there are neodymium magnets directly inside of a HDD.

    Very strong magnets CAN damage a PC, but not sure how strong the field would be coming from the 707's? You might be OK?

    However, if it was me and I had my 1TB drive with all my music and movies etc and I had to put it close to the 707's, I would use magnetic shielding foil to protect the drive as best possible. Maybe sheets inside the case as well as barrier on the outside.

    is that info documented anywhere? I can't find it in the manual even. I am surprised that Polk didn't think of that considering today it's normal to see a HTPC or laptop in the home entertainment center.

    Worse is the 1Cs, especially during the same period, where most TVs are CRT.

    Hi nhhiep,
    I asked Kim at Polk CS to be sure and he confirmed that they weren't. Also, you can see in the cut-away drawings that there isn't a bucking magnet on the woofers or drivers. I would imagine that with the proliferation of non-CRT type television sets the need for magnetic shielding became less.

    I mean. It took a GIANT, engergized magnet held to the laptop for 20+ seconds to do damage. Even the smaller energized magnet held directly over the HDD did nothing and that is directly touching the laptop case, not a a few inches of air as well as a speaker cabinet in between.
