That 68 Chevelle was like the one I had, nice car bro. Everyone I knew who had one was turning them into a race machine....except me. Thing was back then, you could work on a car yourself with some basic tools. Today you need to wear many hats to work on a car. Many good times and a ton of beer downed working on those cars, chewing the fat. Today we chew the fat over cell phones, times change I guess.

I also had a 67 Camaro....for about 6 hours. Didn't even transfer the title yet and let a friend drive it who totaled it in 10 minutes. Lesson learned the hard way.....which is usually how we learn huh ? Others....69 Buick GS, one of my personal favorites with a 455 and turbo 400 tranny. Rode like a Caddy and performed like a GTO. 68 Grand Prix SJ....another nice ride. Had Challengers, Roadrunners, Catalina's, Bonneville's,Riviera's....boat tail, Nova's, Delmont 88's....prior to the Delta 88's, Impala's, Cordoba's....piece of junk btw, Vega's....more junk. My last American made cars were a Pontiac Grand Am and a Caddy coup and that was back in the early 90's. After the headaches of those 2 cars I went foreign and never looked back. Detroit lost me after the early 70's. The next 20 years I tried to like what they put out but just couldn't wrap my brain around the drab styling they were putting out and the reliability issues. Around the late 80's I tried Honda, the Prelude and civics specifically and was sold. Did nothing but regular oil changes, tires, brakes, and lasted 200+ thousand miles. Still ran fine too when I sold them. Today a Honda and a Lexus sit in the garage and have no intention of ever going American again, unless an old muscle car falls in my lap .

We had that chevelle for 25 years. Had we known then what we know now. We never would have turned it into a drag car. And restored it... It was a numbers matching super sport with the original 396 and hurst 4 speed in it when my dad bought it. All original. Every piece. And we cut it up and changed every thing. Talk about decreasing the value. Lol.
