I don't have cable so...

I don't have cable so my regularly scheduled programming was interrupted. I threw on some Skynyrd, and followed the instructions to "Toin it up". Prior to that, I was listening to a new CD I bought.
It's from a group called Bastille, which is an alternative rock genre. The song currently playing on, at least the local, radio station is Pompeii. I like the song, so decided to buy the CD. I've only listened to it once, and it seems pretty good, but this still isn't the point of this post.
Track 3 on this CD is really different. It's called Bad Blood, which is also the title of the CD, and is really weird. I like it, but it is different. I think they are using synthesized percussions, to kind of simulate blood dripping, but it is different than anything I've ever heard. I've listened to this track 3 times, and the same sensation is always there.
I hear the Weird percussion, and it seems like everything else just fades into background music. Like all CD's that I first purchase, I put them on, and play them as background music. Just the way I do things, and the first time I heard this song, I stopped, went into the living room, and listened to it. Then I played it again, and shook my head trying to convince myself I was just trying to figure out that weird percussion they were using. Steel drum, Synthesized, pvc, whatever, it still made the rest of the instruments and vocals fade into the back ground.
I don't think it was mixed or recorded that way, I think it's just happens to be the way I perceive the song. I actually may be the only person on the planet that will ever hear this song in this particular way, but I actually think that it's a pretty good song. On my first listen as background type music, this album isn't half bad.
Anyway, just throwing that out there.
