Ok. So i take my grills off the 1c's & then th 2b's....all the drivers look the same (of course) i find out they ARE different. 1c's have 2 MW6511's & 2 MW6510's - now the 2bs have 1 MW6503 & 1 MW6511 i see in manual so i hope i got this right. Because at first glance youd say Polk Just added another Stereo & Dimensional speaker to the cabinet....so heres the question. Is there a difference that you know of in these drivers ? Or are they similair in comparison ? Interesting

Yes all the drivers have different specs and the crossovers reflect such.

I see that. But to the naked eye. One would think they just added to existing crossover & added extra drivers compare to the SDA2b. Thats what i found interesting. Kinda like the monitor speakers that use the same drivers on alot of their models. Im sure in not the only one that had thought that. Maybe then again i may be in my own little world

I wonder how much different they can really be.

These are the only drivers, aside from the RD tweeters, being manufactured to support vintage products, such as, Monitor, RTA and SDA. You should print this as a reference and keep it handy for the values it contains. There are no grill parts, cables, crossovers, plates or anything else available for the older loudspeakers, unless you know the Polk G O D.

1 Driver Type Q BL Compliance DC Resistance Fs

    3 MW 6501 1.47 5.96 N 3.25 E - 3N/M 7.75 Ohms 31 Hertz
    4 MW 6502 1.97 5.16 N 1.47 E - 3N/M 3.52 Ohms 44 Hertz
    5 MW 6503 1.82 5.24 N 3.55 E - 3N/M 6.54 Ohms 29 Hertz
    6 MW 6509 2.1 4.57 N 3.54 E - 3N/M 8.97 Ohms 30 Hertz
    7 MW 6510 1.39 6.32 N 3.41 E - 3N/M 6.57 Ohms 31 Hertz
    8 MW 6511 1.405 4.34 N 3.496 E - 3N/M 3.13 Ohms 29 Hertz
    9 MW 6512 1.905 4.99 N 1.588 E - 3N/M 3.466 Ohms 40 Hertz
6511 is intended to be used in pairs, wired in series. 6510s, and 6503s are wired in parallel. (Multiple drivers may be series/parallel to achieve a desired overall impedance.)

Thanks Schurkey. That chart is helpful. I knew my 2bs had different drivers Stereo & Dimensional drivers but when researching the 1c's i didnt know they used-are different driver(s) & also 2 of the same drivers as the 2b's---- But now after doing more research on drivers & their crossovers it makes more since. There is alot of useful info in the STICKY area. Learning about the inside of your speakers & how they are put together is interesting. I am digging now to find out more how the SDA's differ from each other. Thanks for feedback

Hi Randy! The Polk assembly line did some interesting things in those years. Technically they are different as the guys have noted. How much different do they sound? You'll have to do some swapping and hear the difference for yourself.

Carl. Ive changed them around a couple of times to compare-as they are easy access. I plan on doing upgrades to the SDA2b's so ive been saving $ thats why i picked up the 1C's (to be used in another set up also) the 2's will be the main rig speaks. Im hoping by Dec or early spring to be doing the upgrades. It seems to keep being pushed back because situations keep arising with the 3 kids we have. It never ends

If my memory serves me correctly Polk actually used 6503's in place of 6510 in some cases or vise/ versa. I would guess due to stock on hand. maybe someone else will chime in on that that is more sure than I am.

My 2Bs use 6503 and my CRS+ use 6510 for the stereo MWs. Both use 6511s for the dimensional MWs. The 2Bs and the CRS+ both use the same crossovers but there is a different spacing between the drivers. The CRS+ are spaced wider apart.
