Oppo + Darbee

Could be a great marriage, people that own Darbee Darblets swear by them...

Could be just enough to drive me to purchase one even though I plan on buying a Xbox One.....

LOL, I will have to get the Xbox One for the next Halo video game. The question is do I get the Oppo 103D for the built in Darblet, or do I just buy one a standalone unit instead of a 103D.....

If you plan on running a lot through the analog section, look very closely at the 105. Or if you want to use it almost like a pre-amp, the 105 is THE choice since the 105 also has digital input.

If this is going to be hooked up just via the HDMI, you only need the 103.

It's cool that they're doing this... but I would think having one for ALL of your sources would make more sense. I'm running mine after the output from my AVR so that my cable, BDP-93 and Xbox 360 are all covered by the Darblet. And my Xbox One when I get it.

An in-player implementation is pretty slick though.
    Equipment list:
    Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
    Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
    Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
    DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
    Epson 8500UB 1080p projector
Elite Screens Sable 120" CineWhite screen

If its got a HDMI in, it will be technically the same since you could in theory run your other main source into it. Or if you have more than one source you could even possibly run a HDMI switch BEFORE the Oppo so everything got the Darblet processing...

Your idea is better if you have more that one source you need to add besides the oppo, unless they up the number of HDMI ports on the Oppo

Just an update here, price has been pegged at $599 for the 103D, $100 more than a standard 103.

Not a bad deal when the Darblet costs ~$300 by itself.

Anyone see a side by side of HD content Darbee vs non-Darbee?

The press hype on the Darbee reads like audio cable 'speak'

Yeah... All I can say is that the example pics they have on their site where you can see it with the Darblet on/off... TOTALLY ACCURATE. I was a huge skeptic, 'cause I'm a video purist and tend to dial sharpness down to as perfect a level as possible... but once you see that thing in action, it's hard to do without it, especially for a projector. It really does give it an added sense of depth without altering the picture in any offensive way. I bought mine off a Polkie because I had been curious about it... and it's staying!

Will be interesting to see if Oppo will have a special deal on the Darbee for those of us who already bought the BDP-103.

Talking about this in another thread got me thinking again. At $499 for the 103 and $599 for the 103D...the price seems very close to me considering the value of getting the Darbee included for basically $100. I wonder if Oppo may plan to drop the 103 altogether, or drop the price. I have the 103 and I'm quite content with it, but if I thought I could get it with the Darbee for 100 more I would definitely go that route. The way they have the prices set now, I envision the 103's gathering dust on their shelves at Oppo. But then again, I'm not in marketing. Anyone else have a take on the fairly close price point?
