cant find any info on this searching the web. the speaker weighs in the 20+ lbs range so i would think it has a wood construction. i dont have a lot of space, so if it can hold up the tv that would be perfect.

Should hold it fine, assuming the stand fits on it

stand width to practically the same and smaller depth so thats not a problem. only thing that worried me was it being too heavy.

I'd be concerned with the stability...

Have you considered building a shelf around the CC so the TV can sit on top of that? Easy fix, one board on either side of the CC, one across the top to join them and presto, a three sided shelf that fits over the CC for the TV to sit on.

No part of the TV's stand overhangs the edge of the speaker? I don't think you're going to bust it with 50 pounds. I bet you could stand on the speaker and it wouldn't break. My 46" TV is on my Monitor 5's, no problem. I realize they aren't a CS400, just giving you my experience.

not really. cs400 measures 18" across and my stand is 18 1/2" so that works out pretty good.

It's all about weight distribution, sounds like your tv has a fairly wide stand which will spread the weight over that distance. That will make the weight per square inch certainly doable by the sounds of it. As long as, like Ken says, the stability is good and since the center channel is about the same size, it should be. I remember about 25 years ago or so when water beds were all the rage and people worried about the weight on their floors. In MOST cases (depending on design and size of the frame the bed was on) there was actually less weight per square inch on the bedroom floor than the refridgerator was putting on the kitchen floor. Anyway, if your center channel collapses this conversation never happened

You can also assist with furniture raisers on the back so the TV stand also has support from the raisers if the stand goes that far back.

That speaker is solid. I seriously doubt there would be any issues.

I would build a shelf. All you need is a couple hardwood stair treads. Use one as the top deck and cut the other one for side legs. They should the smooth rounded front so they will look nice. Most speakers are made out of MDF and would trust a hard wood shelf before a MDF box.

+1 to this, but I'd also put a back on the shelf for added stability so it wouldn't sway and collapse. Having a back would also make cable concealment much easier. A shelf would also protect the speaker top from getting all scratched up from the TV stand and if you made the shelf high enough, you'd be able to elevate the front of the speaker to aim it into your seating area better. I've found this makes a big difference in sound quality with my two CS400s.

    A shelf/ TV Riser is always a nice way to go....especially a custom job. If one is not a DIY'er this is a nice and inexpensive one that looks big enough (23.63W x 15.75D x 9.25H) to house the CS400 (18 3/4"W x 14"D x 8 5/8"H)

Good on you, Geoff, and a +1 to you too since I gave jbooker82 a +1 above. He did, in all fairness, expand on your idea, so he keeps his +1 too.

And I expanded on jbooker82's idea, so +1 to me too! Yay! :loneranger:
