MIT EXP2 Cable Problem

So it seems I have a problem with one of my MIT EXP2 cables. There seems to be a short or a broken connection near the end of the left positive cable going into my amp. The left speaker doesn't work until I fiddle with that connectin. It then works intermittently. When I switch the cables from left to right, just to make sure it's not the amp itself, I get the same results.

Looking at my set up, below, anyone have some advice on a comparable cable?

Maybe this is a time to experiment with some non-fancy-schmacy wire just for kicks? What gauge would I use for about a 10 and a 20 foot run?

Thanks.
