I did not like ANY of the RTA series (RTA15TL, RTA11TL & RTA8TL) They were probably the worst Polk model lineup ever...

Im surprised at that. I have owned lots of small polk bookies, and the rt25i is probably my fav. In some ways i like them better than the lsi7s. pretty flat frequency response, surprising bass, nice detail without being harsh. But different strokes...

PSW10 BY FAR. Its barely better than a cheap arse HTIB sub...

I agree. I liked the RT25i's. Don't sound as full as my rt3000p's but still sound great and a lot of output for their compact size.

Now you guys got me thinking. Maybe there's just something wrong with my pair. Tweeters are working. So are the woofers. Crossovers going bad perhaps? My RT35's seem to stomp all over them.

    I have a love/hate relationship with my S10's. I have 2 pairs of them.
They sound ok, but if the mid goes out on it, you are screwed.
I am working feverishly try to get a 7.5 inch mid-range rebuilt now.

The new RTA line is slim tower. I had RTA-8TL and didn't care for them.
Older RTA line like RTA-12 is pretty much same size and shape of SDA-2 and sounds great.

    Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.
Subwoofers: Klipsch RW10, Triad ProSub Bronze.

Anyone ever have any Polks that they just couldn't stand? Perhaps you heard great things about them only to be disappointed?

Mine would probably be the RT25i.

    :D

It's funny running across this old post after our discussion over the weekend... I had no idea what you thought of the RT25i until I told you that it's my favorite of any Polk speaker I've owned. :p If you make it down my way sometime, I'd like you to sit down in front of mine and give them another listen. I'll bet you'll change your mind.

I do agree with you though, that the CS245i is very boxy sounding and I never enjoyed having it in my system. I think I've been fairly lucky (and careful) buying Polk, and have owned very few duds. The CS245i and the PSW10 are probably my least favorite of those I've owned.

Main speakers...least favorite...S series/R series/RTA series/. A few other models I didn't like but were not inclusive of the whole line. LSI-15's come to mind as well as the 25's. Centers....anything below the cs350...cs10 included. Subs....never liked any, too boomy. Though the newer DSW and micropro subs are a vast improvement but still not on the same playing field as other brands.

Polk cut it's teeth on musical reproduction in speakers. Then they went full blown HT, rode that wave, and now seems to be getting back to music with the LSIM line. However, another wave ride is coming with portable devices, headphones, buds. Which in my opinion has little to do with good sounding stereo reproduction.

Maybe Polk has an identity crisis ?

im pretty surprised at some of these posts but for me the worse polk speakers would have to be the psw10 and the monitor 12. I just sold the monitor 12 thankfully.

Another vote for the Monitor 12. They were serviceable for HT but sounded horrible in a 2 channel system.
